  1. This team needs also better wingers. What a pity player like Maxi Lovera is not there. He has scored yesterday for Rosario Central in impressive win over Racing 4:1.

  2. Fazio should have been in the squad so that we will have two defenders who are above average this season(as per whoscored.com rating)

  3. I really see in Clombatto better version of Paredes. While he is as good in passing as Paredes Colombatto is covering more space, running more, attacking often as AM and more agressive in defence. Today with assist.

      • Acutally agree, but as far as he will play as CM/DM (not AM) I will try to compare him to our DM’s CM’s. I think also he would be best in double DM formation as the second along typical No.5. Looks like he plays on that position in his club. Like young, brisky Banega in 2007 but still with more instinct to attack as AM.

        • i think colambatto is a much better version of paredes who covers only a small ground and does a few decent tackles throughout. Colambatto today played as a full box to box midfielder as he’s a very good passer and dribbler not forgettin the area he covers defensively as well. Pastore’s game is just way to far in comparison to what colambatto does.

    • lack of ideas… and torrers.. amazing and agression player.. but team passing brillient.. hard to see.. they eliminated… but some real good players there… one moment from ascasibar.. and cochenny lacks ideas…. his and control amazing.. i have been watching last 45 miniutes korea never get the ball but they defended well..

  4. “Our central midfielders ( palacios and colambatto) are our gems from this under 20 team. They would be promoted to the senior team soon”

I completely agree vimaldass, Colombatto and Palacios are gem I want to see them in senior NT as soon as possible

    • Add Ascacibar and Foyth in that list too Gonzalo. I love the tenacity and anticipation of ascacibar in all of our matches. He reminds me a lot of the young mascherano. If you watch his games carefully, he’s pretty confident with his ball control and forward passing too. All three of them ( colambatto, palacios and ascacibar) are bestowed with unique talent. What impressed me the most is the fact that they’re all extremely hardworking and covers ridiculuos number of ground. Foyth is so intelligent and composed on the ball although he reminds me of Laurant Blanc in his early days due to his lack of pace. Im sure he can work on it a bit more.

  5. AFA needs to bring back Hugo Tocalli to lead the U17 and U20 development. The play looks very scrappy just like the senior NT under Tata and Bauza.
Same problem as the senior NT. Argentina midfielders are great to watch in possession but very awful off the ball. It looks like Argentine midfielders do know how to press the opponents and close down open spaces off the ball. Or simple these players do not have the mentality of understanding good team plays. Offensively, they always take too many extra many touches or unnecessary dribbling wasting a few seconds instead of moving the ball forward quicker. It allows defenses to get back into shape on most occasions. Hence the lack of scoring opportunities. A lot of teams have been finding it easy to go through the Argentina midfield of lately. This the same I’m seeing here.

  6. Goalkeeper is horrrrible! He has given up 4 of our 5 goals! Poor judgement !! Getting scored at first post against England and now this! Fu##%##%%#%k! Never should have come off line on 1st goal tonight! Korean player dribbled too far wide to score if he stayed on his line and late as hell giving up another penalty!! Ugh!!!

    • Shame because their is some talent and they aren’t playing as bad as score line is showing in this tournament. Formation is wrong… 4-2-3-1 would work better because they need to combine better in the final third… hopefully we can find acouple goals in the 2nd half

  7. Most irritating Argentina team ever. Because many talented players that are dominating all the time without effect. While one counterattack against them is always goal.

      • Agreed ! f**k that goalie. He was really poor at shot stopping and positioning in the first match. Now he makes all kinds of poor decisions in this crucial match. Foyth is actually really good. Sensi has been the culprit. Our central midfielders ( palacios and colambatto) are our gems from this under 20 team. They would be promoted to the senior team soon

    • Yup that was already in plans 2 days ago gonzalo. i think he needs a player who could make a killer pass instead of just a finisher.

  8. Vimaldass, EnganChe, Istiaque, Saant, Maxi Lopez… – glad to see more people here is interesting also Primera players.

  9. I read something that this is not sampawli’s list, even it is not confirmed that he became argentina’s manager.

  10. Garay, Fazio, and Musacheo among the notable ones omitted. Is there any pattern visible in the selection of the central defenders? What is the criterion of this selection? Have the selection been made according to the players’ ability on the ball? Is it that Garay, Fazio, and Musacheo are traditional type who are good for parking the bus or similar tactics and not for a high line defense? Is it that they are not ball playing defenders?
I am not saying that i am unhappy with these defenders who are selected. Simply saying, I am unable to understand the plan and just want to know what you guys think about it. 🙂

  11. Here is the local list –

Nacho Fernández, Maidana and Alario, of River; Tagliafico, of Independiente; Pinola, from Rosario Central; José Luis Gómez, from Lanús, and Acuña from Racing.

I guess the CBs could be better, but they wouldn’t start anyway. Excited about two fullbacks and Nacho.

    • what is going on when we are seeing potential new talent being introduced into the wider squad-this is an outrage and i want to see the manager….to tell him great work and thank you.

this is what we have been saying for years for potential new talent that they need to see the set up close and its not just a set of “words”, this can only inspire players to know they are so close, work hardier and you could be back, it also gives the old guard a good reminder their shirt is not at all for all of time and also work hardier or some one else will be the person keeping the shirt warm.

        • istiaque: I’m the same as you and so many others on here as that is the truth of the matter.

I like most of us understand not every call up will be a success and their will be trial and error but every stone must be looked under and turned over to try to get the perfect mix, real strength and depth into the squad and of course its about telling new comers that wearing the blue and white could be you and to the old timers “watch your back” if you underperform to ofturn.

this 1st named squad is an excellent start so far.

      • Well said. No number of the shirt belong to anyone permanently. Not even Messi but i think no one dare to claim that 10 jersey though.

      • enganche: I wonder if that is the “party line” as if samp get the credit for picking his squad then it may cause legal trouble with sevilla who would claim all sorts of potential trouble whiles samp is still under contract and still supposed to be working for them at the time the squad was named but if its veron kudos to him for his involvement.

      • I don’t buy that really. I think Veron is the decoy here. This is Sampaoli’s list no doubt. There would have been far more Estudiantes players if it was Veron’s list lol

I also read today that Burruchaga will be the national team manager or something. Its not like some kind of an associative position with the coaching staffs, but just a liaison. He will work independently to the coaching staff. I thought veron was supposed to be that guy? Am I missing something here?

        • Heard Burruchaga has already been appointed as the liaison who would be the bridge that connects sampaoli and his squad with AFA’s administrators. On paper this sounds like a good move to circumvent any foreseeable problems in future (if any) between the management and our national team or even meet sampaoli’s demands from them. i think this is a good move although the only thing that i would be slightly skeptical about is the fact that he ( burruchega) is from the 86 team who is close to the rests of the abominable ones namely that maradona asshole. If he gets too bossy with sampaoli or even tries and influences player selections, this could only spell trouble for the whole team.

  12. Driussi scored again just now. His consistency in scoring and having series of good matches since the start of the season should make him a consideration for the national team soon.

    • i think with time we will see more of these news. Now players will feel some kind of fire down their arse. For way too long they were too fucking relaxed thinking the national team was their birthright. Not anymore.

play and perform or get the fuck out. Romero, Aguero and Di Maria. I’m glad Aguero is out. Di Maria will be too if he continues playing like this and I am 99% sure Romero will be on the bench cause he cant pass to save his life. Romero will probably lose his spot on the bench if he doesn’t move his arse from his club’s bench.

And the case against Higuain is he bottles too much. But he always performs for his club side which makes it virtually impossible to not call him.

  13. Thanks Deba for that link. Just read the news that they will finalise the deal on Thursday. I love the way Veron and others working on to make AFA stable again. My support and good wish with them honestly. AFA needs few big money deals from somewhere. Really happy for this new Argentina football face.

    • Insua has always been a player that showed glimpses of potential but consistently failed to maintain high level and unfortunately never reached anywhere near a world class status IMO. Too bad, we could have used a good left-back that he could have become. Is he getting better now?

    • 7 assists – it’s great achievement.

His brother is Emanuel Insua (Racing) is currently one of the best left back in Argentina. After Dubarbier and Angileri IMO.

      • Insua is an intelligent player, that must be said.He knows how to link up with other players. He had a more than solid year with his current club, was regular. We can use him.Apart from great contribution in attack, I mean not just good runs down the flank but real assists, he was also good defensively with 2.3 tackles and 3 interceptions per match. We don’t have many mature options at LB.He is worthy of a try.

  14. Guys
Has anyone have any news about Sampa deal progress . It’s look likes stall or something. When are they gonna start talking about it. I have heard our vice president will go to Sevilla to talk to Castro in this week. Is there any other news except this? Does AFA has 1.5mill for release payment?

  15. I guess it’s an upgrade in his career given the pedigree and history of AC Milan, although La Liga is a much more interesting league for me compared to Serie A. If the new owners spend a considerable amount of cash on good players and a good coach who knows maybe Milan will return to former glory.
