Argentina list to be announced tomorrow, GOMEZ included

Alejandro GOMEZ of Atalanta is expected to be called up to the Argentina National Team.

Papu GOMEZ is set to receive his second call-up for his country when Argentina coach Jorge SAMPAOLI announces his list of players for next month’s World Cup Qualifiers. One who is very much likely to miss out yet again is Juventus’ Gonzalo HIGUAIN.

According to the same Tweet, Diego PEROTTI of AS Roma and Lucas ALARIO of Bayer Leverkusen both have chances of being included in the list. Nicolas PAREJA is not expected to be included in the team and per a report by La Nacion, a spot could open up for Ezequiel GARAY, German PEZZELLA or even MAMMANA. Augusto FERNANDEZ and Guido PIZARRO will not be included (both due to injuries), however, Eduardo SALVIO will be on the team and possibly even Angel DI MARIA.

Tomorrow, SAMPAOLI is expected to announce the European based list for the last two matches against Peru and Ecuador.

  6. Given the fact that we must win this game, I would not be surprised if he goes for a tactic that Bielsa never wanted to implement: the double 9. Bielsa never played Crespo and Batistuta together, except for a few minutes during a friendly in Amsterdam. That resulted in a quick goal.
    Sampaoli mighth opt for a 3-4-1-2 formation with Messi behind 2 strikers. That could be Icardi – Aguero, Icardi – Higuain or Icardi – Benedetto. Peru would have their hands full with two strikers in the box all the time. They could go left and right and open up space for Messi in the middle.

    But if Sampaoli is going to exchange one more time Benedetto with Alario it’s bad idea. Alario is nowhere near to Benedetto. The last just needs time to prove (was shaky in last game, but that’s debut). Long time I was not convinced to any other striker from Argentina league as to Benedetto. He should stay in NT even if will not got minutus in upcoming qulifiers. Alario is to similar to Icardi, but one lever lower. We don’t need 2 strikers the same type.

  8. Sampaoli need to change the scheme of playing not just the player. it will be a win or dead attitude need to be carry by the entire team. More on mental and psychological reinforce to uplift the team. Bringing back the fun and enjoyment in playing Tango Football. We can see a long face and burden on the players to perform for N/T despite their five star performance on their respective club every week.
