La Liga club Deportivo Alavés fire Luis ZUBELDIA

Deportivo Alaves have fired their manager, Luis ZUBELDIA following their 0-3 loss to Villarreal earlier.

The result left the Spanish club with no wins and no goals after four matches to start the season and they are currently now at the bottom of La Liga standings. ZUBELDIA arrived in the summer replacing fellow Argentine Mauricio PELLEGRINO who departed to Premier League side Southampton after guiding Alaves to a 9th place finish last season as well as a Copa Del Rey final.

Alaves was ZUBELDIA’s seventh stint as coach. He had previously managed Lanus, Barcelona SC, Racing Club, LDU Quito, Santos Laguna and Indepentiente Medellin.

    • That has nothing to do with that… I followed this guy in the past 7-8 years (especially in his first years of coaching) since he started in Lanus and i have never understood the hype around him back them. His team are always disorganized, plenty of injured players due to over emphasize on physical prowess (basically run & hustle), overly vertical with zero “pause”… meh no thx.
