Mauro ICARDI, LO CELSO, SALVIO score, PIATTI hattrick, more

It was a weekend full of goals with Mauro ICARDI, Giovani LO CELSO, Eduardo SALVIO, Lucas OCAMPOS and Ignacio PIATTI all scoring.

Mauro ICARDI just can’t stop scoring. After netting goal number 25 of the season against Cagliari, he scored once more this time in a 2-1 win against Chievo.Β ICARDI scored a tap in and after initially being ruled off for offside, VAR showed that D’AMBROSIO (the player who passed it to ICARDI) was not offside.

As we reported, Argentina coach Jorge SAMPAOLI was set to speak with ICARDI on Friday.

Another player fighting for his chance in Argentina’s World Cup squad, Eduardo SALVIO scored two minutes into stoppage time in Benfica’s 2-1 win against Estoril Praia. SALVIO’s Benfica are now one point ahead of FC Porto but SALVIO’s men have played one more match than their counter parts.

Giovani LO CELSO scored for PSG in their 1-0 win against Girondins de Bordeaux. LO CELSO’s goal came from the edge of the area and meant that the newly crowned Ligue 1 champions have a 20 point gap ahead of second place Monaco.

Former River Plate star Lucas OCAMPOS registered a goal and an assist in Marseille’s 5-1 win versus Lille. The win for Marseille means they are only one point behind second place Monaco and are tied on 69 points with Lyon.

Moving over to MLS in North America, Ignacio PIATTI scored three times for the Montreal Impact but it wasn’t enough as they fell to a 5-3 loss against LAFC. PIATTI scored twice in the first 16 minutes to establish a 2-0 lead and completed his first half hattrick in the 43rd minute as Montreal went into half time with a 3-1 score. However, a red card in the 31st minute meant that LAFC were able to get back in and steal the victory.

    • I think it’s a waste to take salvio as RB & acuna as lb. They shld be selected in team as midfield wingers. As full backs they are just makeshift & better take ansaldi , mercado , bustos , tagliafico.

      • Sampa had never used any of them in full back positions. But they both perfectly fit for wing back roles. especially Acuna can even be used as left back option as i couldn’t see any one better fitting than him. Ansaldi would do great in both flanks either as full/wing back.

  1. HIGUAIN, HIGUAIN, HIGUAIN………………………….. NO PLEASE. AGAIN IN NAPOLI GAME HE DISAPPEARed. PLEASE PLAY MESS IN SCORING POSITION IF WE WERE TO wIN WORLD CUP. NO MORE RELYING ON HIGUAIN, AUGERO OR OTHER 3RD GRADE FORWARD FOR ARGENTINA. PLAY MESSI FRONT WITH SUPPORTING CAST THAT SUPPORT MESSI LIKE LANZINI, ACUNA,GOMES AND OTHER. IF MESSI CAN PLAY WITH DENIS SUAREZ AND PAULINHO, WHY NOT SELECT PLAYERS THAT HELPS MESSI’S TRAITS THEN TRY CHOKERS LIKE HIGUAIN, AUGERO AND OTHERS. JUST LOOK AT THIS BARCA FOR GOD SAKE.

      • You did not understand my point regarding Higuain. With or without Higuain, Juventus are 99% sure to win Seria A title. Higuain was bought to help them with CL but he has not done anything remotely close to help their cause. As for Dybala, I think he is still better than Higuain and will help Argentina in tight matches where as Higuain is deadwood that should not be allowed in the pitch. Remember his comment after defeating Ecuador saying he take victory with pinch of salt. Let me tell you Higuain, if it were you in position of Messi, we would be arguing here why Argentina failed to make it to world cup 2018 and every one would be blaming Messi.

  2. Happy to see Salvio scored, he hasn’t been in the starting XI with his club for a while. Hope he can win back his place. Lo Celso, not his greatest match but the guy is becoming so efficient, in addition to his goal, he was about to offer an assist to Mbappe. He’s made for this midfield of 3. Big thanks to Emery for giving him his chances. Quite disappointed by Pastore’s performance. Last week against Monaco he was sensational but last night he played quite badly. On the other hand, Ocampos may not be the most technical winger but what a player! He has that fighting spirit that is disappeared in the modern football. If I am the coach, he will always play. I am happy for him after so much time wasted on the bench.

      • I am a big supporter of salvio. Hope he holds good on fitness which is his only problem. No nonsense , Pacy with good offensive & defensive skills . Hope both salvio & acuna get playing time . Di Maria should be 2nf half sub which will make him more impactful & also last full tournament

    • Interesting, I didn’t know this website but the scores seem quite accurate and the highest ranked players are closed to the list of players that Sampaoli pre-selected. It is also in line with the reality because we can see that the weakest sector of this team is DM(Biglia has higher score than most of them, he deserves his place), followed by CB and Goalkeepers. The strongest sector of this team is attacking midfielder(or winger), even for those non-selected they have very high scores(Cervi, Papu). It also show that it’s really worth to try Dybala even though the past season is not the best in his career.

      • It’s purely stat based rating, so wouldn’t be 100% accurate, but yeah, its very close. It doesn’t do justice to the players who had to start from bench. eg:- a mediocre performance from the start may fetch the same or even better rating that of a great performance without assist or goal from the bench. A sub appearance also effects the average rating.

That is the reason why Bigilia has a better score than Battaglia.

  4. I want to see icardi in place of higuain.though both are in same level and icardi don’t gurantee 100% conversion but icardi is younger and more fresh as no CL for icardi.

    • Icardi and Higuain are at the same level? Really? I think that is an insult to Icardi and it is a football crime. Simply, Icardi is light years ahead of flop-and-finished Higuain.

If you ever see a forum or any other place where these two are compared you have to know that logic is on holiday.

Enough is enough! I think you got what I mean.

      • Higuain is a better player than Icardi so far. Period. Otherwise, Juve would have gone for icardi from Inter rather than Higuain from Napoli.

However, Higuain has not performed well enough at the NT (which doesn’t mean what he has done at club level has no value and he should not be rated). Thus, Icardi deserves his chance.

Higuain has had his chances and he didn’t take it, literally. It should be the younger Icardi’s turn now.

Having said that, I was not really impressed with Icardi either in his limited time at the NT. He also seems to be under a lot of pressure while playing for Argentina (like his team mates).

        • Hahah. Icardi is better than Higuain. Higuain as always crack under pressure like game against Napoli. Higuain will be there to screw the party if selected. This choker has never failed to dissapoint in biggest game both for club and country. RM, Napoli both started playing well after this choker left and same thing will happen to Juventus.

      • Well icardi is still relatively young and hasn’t proved anything yet.still not played for a top team and hasn’t played CL yet.so I want to see him for a top team play in champions league then I will say anything about him being a superior to higuain.now he is just a player with immense potential let’s see sampaoli picks him or not
