Nicolás TAGLIAFICO on Argentina World Cup call-up: “I’m still dreaming”

Ajax man Nicolás TAGLIAFICO stated that he’s still dreaming in regards to his World Cup call-up for Argentina.

Speaking to the media, here’s what TAGLIAFICO had to say:

“It still hasn’t hit me, for me, I’m still dreaming. I want to keep both feet on the ground and do my best. If you’re here, it’s because you are doing things well and could be at the top. My switch over to Europe made me see things totally differently. I have to see MESSI as another team mate and not think that I am next to the best player in the world.

“The dynamics of football in Europe helped me in adapting to the National Team.”

On Sunday, in a video posted by the Argentina National Team Twitter account, TAGLIAFICO said the following:

“To be with a national team like Argentina, where the best play, is an honor. Argentina are always candidates but there’s also countries that have had the same ideology of playing for some time. Teams that have been working the same way, like Germany and also Brazil are very difficult at a World Cup and obviously Spain. At a World Cup, there are always surprises.”

It’s been a roller coaster of a ride for Nicolás having recently made the move to Europe joining Ajax and suddenly finding himself not only with the national team but also as a starter in the World Cup.

It has been a long time, since the days of Juan Pablo SORIN, where Argentina haven’t had a natural left back on the team. Marcos ROJO has been filling that position for a few years and has done a respectable job for the most part but hopefully Nicolás can cement that left back spot and make it his own.

  1. If Aguero is fully fit, why we don’t start with him?
If a team has no options in strikers, I understand the logic behind recycling the done and finished crappy player like Higuain, but Argentina can go for at least 10 other options in the forward department. I still think he will be there in Qatar as well.

    • Aguero is still not match fit I assume and sampaoli will not risk him for a mere friendly.biglia also not match fit so mascherano will play most probably

  2. This is the probable line-up vs Haiti

Caballero; Ansaldi, Mercado or Otamendi, Fazio, Tagliafico; Mascherano, Lo Celso; Lanzini, Messi, Di María; and Higuain.

  3. Every day specific defensive drills are taking place.that means sampa is same way like us tensed about defence and want to improve that.hope this 1 month of training will help us.we need to be sharp from the match 1 this Time.i don’t know why they brought biglia quite clearly he is unfit.we could have at least have a cover in pizzarro

  4. Similarities between Brazil and Argentina pre world cup situation, Brazil was runner up of previous world cup(1998), lost 3back 2 back finals, Struggled in world cup qualifier where Argentina dominated in qualifier and entered among favorites before 2002 world cup. Now Pre World cup situation 2018, Argentina runner up in last world cup(2014), lost back to back 3finals , struggled in world cup qualifier also finished in 3rd same as Brazil where Brazil dominated 2018 world cup qualifier entering among favorites… pridicton- you know what i mean

    • This is just a coincidence I believe I have seen this stats getting changed.before 2010 wc no team able to win the WC after loosing their 1st match but Spain did it.before 2014 WC no European team was able to win a wc held in America but Germany did it.so this stats don’t matter.we only can motivate ourselves.we need to improve a lot to beat the likes of Spain Germany France or brazil
