Lautaro MARTIENZ scored for Inter in their 2-1 loss to Cagliari.

With no Mauro ICARDI, it was Lautaro MARTINEZ who lead the attack for Inter. After falling behind due to an own goal by Ivan PERISIC, Lautaro MARTINEZ leaped in the air and scored to draw Inter level. However, it wouldn’t be enoguh as Cagliari would score shortly before half time as they would go on to win.

Despite being on the bench, Argentina U20 player Facundo COLIDIO would remain an unused substitute.

    Ezequiel Ponce:- Scored 14 goals this season in greece super league. At just 21 years of age, he have plenty of time to develop in bigger league and make his mark.
    Emiliano Buendia:- He is a typical argentine winger who plays for Norwich. This season he have 4 goals and 9 assists. Is it a great perfomance? Hard to tell since he is playing in second division in england but noone can deny his contribution in making Norwich no.1 and are on the path of promotion to premier league.
    Emiliano Martinez:- Again a player from second division who is on loan from Arsenal. Joined this january in Reading, they are hoping martinez can keep them above relegation with his fantastic saves.
    Arsenal also noticed his perfomance and are planning to make him 2nd keeper next season.

Everyone was giving shit to sampaoli for not playing Dybala and messi together but If argentina is playing them together in coming matches then we have to sacrifice one of Paredes or Lo celso right? Is that good idea? Who will you play lo celso or dybala?

      • The problem is Paredes or lo celso cant defend like DM. sure they can tackle but thats only a part of defending. Paredes’s positioning is not good, Against Venezuela he may be okay but against a stronger team I dont think paredes can stop counter attack or stop fast players

    • Not necessary to sacrifice one of Dybala or Celso, you can play a 4-3-1-2 like this:

      That could work and it’s pretty much Sabella’s system with Celso playing Maria’s b-2-b role, Lanazini/pity playing messi’s role and Messi-Dybala playing kun-pipita’s roles. Heck it’s far more defensively sound than Sabella’s system.
      You can fit any group of players into any system but it’s a matter of said group of players being convinced with the system and their roles in it, for example on paper sabella’s fab4 system wouldn’t have worked at all and I remember complaining about Sabella’s line up before the Ecuador game but the result was a 4-0 thrashing and some of the best counter-attacking I’ve ever seen.
      The reason why that system worked (for a while atleast) was because the players themselves asked for the system and Sabella was wise enough to give it a try.
      The problem with Scaloni is that he lacks Sabella’s experience and thus far he hasn’t settled on a system even if he somewhat seems settled on a line-up (the one against brazil is the closest thing we will see in copa IMO).
      These coming 2 friendlies will give us an idea of where Scaloni’s head is at…….hopefully.

  6. It turns out that that Argentina U20 team from 2017 WC who missed only luck and good coach for a reason was dominating most of games (even against champion England) despite the 2 defeats. There were really talented boys: Montiel, Foyth, Cristian Romero, Lisandro Martinez, Ascacibar, Palacios, Lautaro Martinez, Zaracho, Senesi, Belmonte, Lucas Rodriguez, Colombatto – if Montiel and Lisandro Martinez will be really on this new Scaloni’s list most of the players is already linked with NT… Cristian Romero, Senesi (rumours of Barcelona following him), Belmonte might be in NT in future too. Colombatto talent is hidden somwhere there in Hellas Verona Serie B ATM. Ponce in Greece.

    • Yeah it was so sad seeing the 2017 team lose, they were legit good, kinda reminds me of Morocco in the WC, they were every bit as good as spain and protugal and better than Iran yet they finished last, football can be cruel like that.
      Hey Gonzalo was Cristian Romero there too? I don’t remember him playing at all! I remember Licha martinez being in the squad but I don’t think he got any minutes. El Russo and Colombatto were beasts, Foyth was pretty good while Palacios was ok if my memory serves me correctly.
      I can see alot of these kids being fixtures in the NT if they continue to develop and work hard.

      If you all noticed the 2011 u20 has a few representatives in the NT now with Tagliafico, Pezzella and Battaglia (if he wasn’t injured) all starting while Lamela and Pereyra also being present. That team also was quite talented, especially defensively, losing to Portugal in quarters on penalties was hearbreaking.

    the “problem” is that big number of fans here are mentally broke after those losses we had in the three finals and together with tornado Sampaoli of last world cup everything finished.

    i don t say it for blame somebody.it is reality in life.if you mentally broke you can t reverse it.it is very difficult. those mentally broke fans how can they want continue see every single players of Messi generation?they want to see new faces despite if they are worse or less talented. they HOPE only.
    something like pray.risk it in luck.
    why? for one simple reason. to don t see the Messi generation players again because those players create this SYNDROME to those fans.

    • Any update on Battaglia’s recovery @Gonzalo ? And what about Nacho Fernandez? How’s he doing? I’ve not seen him on the (“rumoured”) line-up and so too Mammana. In Mammana’s case, he’s not been in the squad for Zenit’s Europa league last 32 tie, must have been injured or something…

      • Nacho is injured. About 3 weeks out. He is always one of the best in River. Keeps his close to NT form but I don’t think he will be called up anymore again. For me only Franco Vazquez is player I could swap for Nacho.

  11. It can’t be denied that Lautaro is talented and if he works hard and keeps a cool head he can be something special; his ball control and overall skill reminds me of a young Aguero during his Atletico days.

    What a player I hope he stays free from injury he did rabona cross.I believe messi will do more damage with having lanzini ‘ parades and lo celso on the board because those will take care our creativity .

          • @Ebo Ofcourse it will be difficult to prove the rumor unless scaloni or aguero talk about it. That doesnt mean it is not true. The rumor is that aguero disrespected the technical staff of which scaloni was a part of during the world cup.
            Do you remember Aguero thanked everyone except coaching staff after the world cup.
            Recently journalist HernĂĄn Castillo said something along the line of this i.e, ‘there was differences between technician and aguero but now the exclusion is not personel rather reducing the “old guards” from squad’.

            Now That does not mean Aguero’s national team days are over. if the selected strikers flop, then there will pressure on scaloni to include Aguero.

            yeah, good idea, ONLY if there is No COPA or WC2022 qualification, I will never support FORGETTING ABOUT COPA FOR NEW START.
            We will not be able to build a team to win WC in 3 years, 2026 maybe . but we will be in the shadows for 5 years easy because by then, all the younger players today will be ‘old guard’

    • Not one good game ,from Sevilla to Lazio ,I follow every match .from wingers to false9 .Correa gradually improved his passing ,dribbling skill but shooting skill is below standard. Hopefully he can keep on improving. He deserved to be called .when compared with dybala ,i think Correa tactically is more useful .
