    The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz. With 15 plug types in use around the world, it can be hard to know what to pack. While universal adapters are great, they don’t cover all eventualities and, even when they do, they’re often bulky and have a hard time fitting into crowded hostel power boards. You can use your electric appliances in Morocco, if the standard voltage in your country is in between 220 – 240 V (as is in the UK, Europe, Australia and most of Asia and Africa).

    The New Zealand plug adapter accepts plugs from the UK. In New Zealand the supply voltage is 230V. If the appliance is a single voltage rated appliance, it will need to operate at the same voltage as the supply voltage of the country i.e. 230V.

    Type I – Used in Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, China and Argentina. No other plug types will fit into a type I outlet.

    A 50-watt converter will do for small electrical appliances, like (non rechargeable) shavers or toothbrushes, and non-heating appliances. For heating appliances (such as hair dryers, irons, coffee makers and other high-power electrical appliances) you need a 1600-watt converter. To find out which converter you need, check the label on your electrical appliance for its wattage.

    But this is electricity, so make sure you check – if it doesn’t state clearly on your appliance that it’s safe for use up to 240 volts the chances are you won’t be able to use them and you might destroy them or even hurt yourself if you do so don’t do it!
