It was a controversial loss for Argentina vs. Morocco in their Olympic opener.

Argentina were behind 2-0 through a great team goal by Morocco and a penalty kick early in the second half. Giuliano Simeone scored Argentina’s first goal of the match after being substituted into the game.

The referee added 15 minutes of added time. Pressure from Argentina finally paid off and it was Medina who scored late to draw Argentina level.

Moroccan fans invaded the pitch after the goal and began throwing firecrackers rowards the Argentina players. The referee stopped the match and both teams went into the locker room.

After more than one hour inside the locker room, it was announced that Argentina’s goal would not stand due to offside. The match continued for three minutes in front of now fans and it would end in a 2-1 loss.
