Javier Mascherano spoke about Argentina’s match against Morocco at the Olympics, calling it a circus.

Mascherano took part in two Olympic games with Argentina, winning both gold times and now as coach of the team, will try to win his first as a coach. Both Lionel Messi and Rodrigo De Paul gave their thoughts on the match and Mascherano spoke to the media after Argentina’s controversial 2-1 loss against Morocco at the Olympics. Here is what he had to say:

“The biggest circus I have ever seen in my life.

“Yesterday, they broke in and stole Almada’s things. They ask us for credentials for everything and then this happens.

“Today, they invaded the pitch and threw firecrackers at us. They told us that it was finished 2-2. Not even Morocco wanted to play it.”

  1. Masche’s tactical play, his erratic subs at times, delaying a prodigy on the pitch like Eche or a playmaker like Equi for so long, everything should be criticized. But guys, look at the way the team was being thrown bottles at, Julian could have been injured seriously by the firecracker thrown at him. Doesn’t he as a coach reserve some right to call out this crap that they are calling “Olympics” in front of the media? He is just calling a dice a dice. And to be honest, calling it a circus is an understatement. While there was a complete s***show from the team on the pitch in the first half, what happened in terms of the invasion, things being thrown at the team and the referee taking 2 hours to review a goal was shambolic in a marquee event like this. Masche has clearly said we will play. So lets see what the team has to offer against Iraq. But pretty sure this savagery from the crowd will continue.

  2. We are unwelcome in France for World Cup 22 final and then the recent video post of Enzo. Either their security is arranged well or the team should return. Such hostility against a country during Olympics is against the spirit of the game.

  3. Mache is ready with his excuses. Does he want to say that their first 55 mins of display was because of so many non footballing reasons? When Alvarez missed two super easy chances inside the box , was he thinking of what happened to poor Almada? Then according to him the next 2 matches would be no different. So pack up and go shop hopping in Paris because you all would be back home soon.

  4. That means Mache hasn’t been paying attention to his coaching style. I will be very surprised if we reach semi final under him, let alone win gold !
