Pep Guardiola responded to Julián Álvarez and his comments about his future with Manchester City.
Guardiola is presently in the United States as part of Manchester City’s pre-season tour. Julián Álvarez is presently in France with the Argentina Olympic team but did speak about his future at the club. Guardiola spoke to the media about the comments made by Julian Alvarez. HEre are the quotes via Joe Bray.
“He said he’d think about it. When he’s finished, his agent calls Txiki and we see what happens. I know he wants to play important moments but the other ones do too. Okay, think about it and tell us. He plays a lot, he wants more? That’s fine.”
Lets be honest, City and Real madrid loves varzillian merchants.
With all due respect to Pep but Julián deserves to play all the game . You can clearly see his finishing instinct has gone down due to all those swap and chop shit when he is playing out of position. Pep doesn’t look happy but who gives shit as long as he let him go.
guardiola does destroy strikers…strikers who shine are the ones who adapt to his system…best examples are Zlatan and Eto. I hope julian joins atleti…Even though I am Sevillista, I don’t mind seeing him play against us
After winning so many trophies what is likely missing for Julian is the ability to be a starter all the time. So it would make sense for him to move. Atletico Madrid could be a good option, I think Julian’s work rate would suit Simeone and La Liga should be a bit easier for him to handle because it’s not as fast paced and physical. He learned much from Guardiola but now it’s time to move on because he is still only 24 and he needs to feel like he’s part of the starting 11. He won his major trophies for club and country and now it’s time to swap rainy north England for sunny Spain…
Alvarez is putting unnecessary pressure on himself by making comments during the tournament. He should focus on the games and make a mark.
Meh, that wont matter. Messi played Copa 2021 in the mist of his move to PSG. He played WC 2022 when he’s about to move to Miami.
Julian just won Copa, Olympics is only a fun sidequest to him.
Everyone is not Messi (who is from another planet). 😄 The Olympics have their own unique glory, and being a senior player comes with its own responsibilities. It might be a fun sidequest for Julian, but it’s a huge dream for his younger teammates. Let’s hope he can enjoy the moment, have fun, make comments to send messages to his club while still setting an example for the rest of the team!
The way he missed chances in the first half today against Ukraine, shows how much pressure he is under. Non-ideal for the team.
Yes, Julian has improved a lot under Guardiola but finishing. He was a far better striker and under Pep he has turned into a passing merchant. He is being played in every position possible and in crunch games he is forced to sit watch Haaland miss chance after chance. He is Argentina’s starting striker and our main strikers don’t play second fiddle. He has to leave this season otherwise his market value and interest will go down even more.
True that. He is one who don’t have to seat on the bench. He can play stater in many clubs. It’s time to move on. Top striker of the world champions should play every important game.
