In today’s society, there are several options for you to consider in daycare for child. There are the typical daycare centers that can be found in about every city and there are home daycares. Home daycares mean daycare providers work out of their homes. There are pros and cons of the two choices that need to be weighed carefully for the sake of your child.

    Daycare Centers

There are professional centers that offer a lot for those in need of childcare. They tend to be rather large and located strategically for marketing and good business sense. But have you really thought of the good and the bad of using such centers.

    Pros of Using Daycare Centers

#1 Regulated – Daycare centers need to be licensed with the state. They have to go through tough licensing to ensure that your child has a stable and save environment to play, eat, and sleep in. This is very important as you are leaving your child in the hands of someone else for many hours a day.

#2 Professionals – Those that work with your child in centers are trained professionals that know how to properly care for your child and who can administer first aid, if needed.

#3 Socialization – Your child is not limited in their chances to interact with other children. In these centers they have the chance to interact with many children from all backgrounds. This helps in developing social skills that will come in handy later in life.

#4 Resources – You’ll find that the resources can be more expansive. They typically have the resources to provide more variety in toys and learning tools.

    Cons of Using Daycare Centers

#1 Cost – Using a daycare center is not cheap. It can be rather pricy.
home health aides in nj spend hundreds a weeks for childcare. One child could be three hundred dollars in some places. There are some families that spend half their income here.

#2 No Flexibility – You won’t find much flexibility. If you child is sick, they can’t attend. You have to find alternative care or miss work. This is not always easy.

#3 Waiting Lists – Just because you want a particular daycare center does not mean you’ll get it. There are waiting lists that could have you waiting weeks or months or longer to get one child in for a few hours a day.

    Home Daycares

These are daycares that are located in individual homes. This is not a business in the sense of stockholders or such. This is typically a person who has opened their home to a few children to watch on a regular basis.

    Pros of Using Home Daycares

#1 Cost – These tend to be less pricy and they can be more flexible in payment. This is not a person who is looking to make a fortune but maybe a little extra cash.

#2 Attention – In daycare centers, there could a hundred or more children. They can easily get lost in a crowd. In home daycares, they might have other children around them but in the end they will get the attention they need and not just be a number in a group.

#3 Like Home – Home daycares do not look like school or a clinic. It is a place much like their own home with all the familiar things. This can make it easier on a child to enjoy themselves and relax.

#4 Flexibility – Most home daycares are very flexible with times they can watch your child as well as being able to take them for longer periods in case of school holidays or a change in work schedules.

    Cons of Using Home Daycares

#1 Little Regulation – Regulations of any daycare facility vary from state to state. Some states do almost no regulation or licensing of home daycares. In other words, anyone can open up a daycare in their home. Other states do that but only with a certain number of children being watched. Others have much stricter regulation requirements. But in the end, home daycares do not offer the security and safety that daycare centers provide.

#2 Training – There are some very well trained home daycare providers, but it is not required to be so to have a daycare in a home. Just because someone watches children does not mean they have been licensed through the state or have had proper background checks. They don’t even have to know CPR.

#3 Number of Providers – Most home daycares involve just one person watching your child. That means if they have to go on vacation or get sick there is no backup. Who will watch your child?

Whether a daycare center or a home daycare is the best for your child is up to you. Neither one is the best but each comes with its own set of pros and cons. Research. Visit the daycares. Investigate. Go with what is best for you and your child.
