To single out the best cleaning product would be impossible because there isn’t a cure-all for all the filthy matter in the world. There are cleaning products restricted for specific areas or items in your home, and obviously, one can’t be a substitute for the other.

So, the way I broke down this list is by category: multi-purpose, bathroom, and dishwashing. I’ve highlighted my top three best brands in the UAE for each category, and I’ve included all the details that I believe will be important to you.

Multi-purpose Cleaning Products
Dettol
Dettol has perhaps successfully attuned its brand name to an alternative meaning of “cleaner.” From hand sanitizers to surface sprays, Dettol has got it covered. And, it is no wonder why its multi-purpose cleaner belongs at the top. The 2.7L multi-purpose cleaner which comes in one 1.8L bottle and one 900ml bottle sells for about AED 99 on Amazon.ae which per liter costs AED 36.67.

DAC
DAC is one of those ubiquitous brands you will find in groceries across the Emirates and for a good reason. It works well for mopping the floor, cleaning the walls and kitchen tops and the fact that it also disinfects makes it one of the popular brands for cleaning. DAC sells for about AED 25 for a 3-liter bottle and compared to Dettol is significantly much cheaper at AED 8.33 for every 1L.

Clorox
Clorox is also one of those brands that are everywhere, and its chemical components are unparalleled when it comes to effectiveness. If you see rust stains from hard water on your sink or grout between floor tiles, just pour Clorox onto it, leave it for a few minutes and wipe it off with a cleaning cloth – you’ll be surprised that it’s spick and span again! But, it’s at number three because of its pungent odor which is often suffocating especially when used in close spaces. It sells for AED 9.40 for a 1.89L container which tags approximately AED 4.97 or AED 5 for each liter.

Bathroom Cleaning Products
Now, we move to the bathroom. In the bathroom category, the same multi-purpose cleaners above work well on bathroom floors, but the order would be different: DAC moves to the third spot while Clorox moves at the two. But, in this category, I wrote “bathroom,” but I specifically meant “toilet.”

So, the number one toilet cleaner for me is…

Clorox Manual Toilet Bowl Cleaner
Yes, this is the best one by far because of the bleach the product contains. The same effectiveness on rust stains and grout is also available for your toilet. So, if you have hard water stains in your toilet, what you can do is squeeze the Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner and swirl the cleaning gel around the stained areas, close the lid and let it sit there for 10 to 15 minutes. Then, you’ll see when you come back a sparkling clean toilet. This Clorox product sells for AED 12.25 for a 709ml bottle which means 1L would be AED 17.28, without promos or discounts.

Harpic
The thing that’s nice about Harpic is the fragrance that is incorporated with its toilet cleaners which makes it more bearable to use. It doesn’t contain bleach, but it does claim to be 10x much stronger than bleach. But I’m comfortable in putting Harpic at the second spot. Harpic sells for AED 11 for half a liter or AED 22 for 1L.

Mr. Muscle 5 in 1 Toilet Cleaner
Mr. Muscle, as its name implies, is just as strong as the top 2 on my list. But it doesn’t have the promotions and discounts that bargain shoppers might be on the lookout for. And to me, the top two brands resonate more with customers not just in terms of presence on grocery stores but also their availability online. This product sells for AED 8.25 for 500 ml, but on Amazon, they sell the same quantity for AED 15 – AED 19, which makes it the most expensive per 1L at AED 38.

Dishwashing Cleaning Products
Now, everybody — men or women — at some point had experienced washing dishes, whether they like it or not. It’s one of the common chores at home unless you’re lucky enough to own a dishwasher.

So, here are my top three brands in the UAE for washing the dishes.

Fairy Platinum Antibacterial
There’s a certain degree of comfort that Fairy gives me. I notice that it’s easier to clean dishes with it, just a few drops packs in a lot of concentrated power. And, overall, it just gets the job done at an efficient rate. Also, depending on the number of people in a household, it lasts quite long. One 800ml bottle may last up to a month and a half, and the same quantity is AED 11.75 or AED 14.7 for 1L.

Fairy Platinum Lemon
Ah, the same brand, but with different power, lemon power. What’s great about this product is that it’s tough on greasy cookware and dishes. And you’d know instantly that your dishes are clean if they squeak when you slide your finger on it, that’s what Fairy Platinum Lemon does. This product on the market costs the same as the Platinum Antibacterial at AED 11.75.

Pril
Looking for an economical choice, but offers good quality dish cleaning? Pril is the answer. The product is superb with its lemon power too, but the best thing about Pril is its price. Pril sells for AED 9.50 for a 1.5L bottle which means that 1L is AED 6.33, the cheapest among my top three.

Organic Cleaning Products
Now, we got through with all the best cleaning products in UAE, let’s talk more about something on the organic side of things.

Organic products are probably aren’t as popular 20 or 30 years ago as they are today. From food to cleaning products, there are organic labels to some of them. I think the reason why is over time, as newer and newer diseases develop, the need to go back to something that nature can answer is prevention for something more detrimental to our health.

In this part, I didn’t make a list of top three products, but I reviewed a particular multi-purpose cleaner and highlighted some of the things that I think can benefit you and your family. It’s the Seventh Generation Hard Surface Cleaner.

We’ve come to the last part of this article which are safe cleaning products and the great thing about this is that it’s all homemade. You can make this on your own with ingredients that I’m sure you already have around your house.

Homemade Multi-Purpose Cleaner ingredients:
– 1 cup of white vinegar

– 1 tbsp baking soda

– 4 cups of water

– 2 tsp dishwashing liquid

Instruction: Mix all them together in a spray bottle, and you’re ready to go.

This kitchen top cleaner, however, requires essential oils. Here’s what you need:
– 10 drops of lemon essential oil

– 7 drops lavender essential oil

– 5 tbsp white vinegar

– 400ml water

Instruction: Mix all the ingredients in a spray bottle and start using.
