Argentine international Matias Kranevitter has reportedly agreed to join Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg.
It’s been a busy few weeks for the Russian team. And it’s gotten even busier. According to Cesar Luis MERLO of TyC Sports, the Sevilla midfielder has agreed to join Roberto MANCINI’s team. He will fly out on Friday where he will undergo his medical on Saturday. AS in Spain later confirmed the news, stating that KRANEVITTER (signed to Atletico but spent last season on loan under current Argentina National Team coach Jorge SAMPAOLI’s then Sevilla) has joined Zenit.
Está confirmado que Matías Kranevitter jugará en el Zenit. Mañana se sube al 🛫 y el sábado se hará la revisión médica.

Matias KRANEVITTER and Germán PEZZELLA
As we reported on Thursday, both KRANEVITTER and PEZZELLA (also based in Spain) were being linked to a move to Russia.
I think they can eventually play in the same team as their profile is slightly different: Ascacibar is a ball-winner defensive midfielder, his style is closed to Maschereno. Kranevitter is a more controller midfield who plays in front of the defense, pretty much like Busquets and Motta. His job is to protect his defenders. Paredes is a Regista like Pirlo and Xabi Alonso, he is creative and can create a lot of opportunites for his teammates.
Of all the players have gone there, I think Kranevitter has the lowest chance of succeeding. Because I don’t think In a 3 men midfield you can play Paredes, Kranevitter and ascasiber together. So doesn’t matter if it’s a 2 or a 3 men midfield, one of these guys will miss out, unless magically Paredes develops into a attacking midfielder.
Looks like Ascacibar transfer is still not done as Kranevitter move confirmed. But
Apparently they know don’t need 3 DMs

Veron talked about problems with the transfer as Zenit has plentifull on the position. He is expectating renew of offers from Frankfurt, Leipzig, Lisbon.

Paredes , Kranevitter,Ascacibar vs Banega,Pizarro, Montoya ???
This would be an interesting battle I think,Zenit would be stronger defensively but Sevilla would be overall more dynamic and fluid offensively.
But as far as there is 6 of them they should’nt have big problems with acclimatization. I mean it’s just like little Argentina in big Russia.
All the players somewhat involved in NT senior or junior. Rigoni called up by Sampaoli for canceled game against Bolivia. Kranevitter once NT player. Driussi U17 U20 as far.
Haha, Messi is next! Honestly, the way things are going, this might not be all that terrible. Paredes, Mammana, Ascacibar and Kranevitter have a chance (some more than others) to make the World Cup. If they can get some minutes together in the season, it’s not bad at all.
Of course I would have preferred they play elsewhere and not in Russia.
Cristian Pavon and Martin Menitez from Independiente linked with several European clubs.
So he is number 6. Paredes, Driussi, Mammana, Ascacibar, Rigoni, Kranevitter. Messi is next.
3 Argentina defensive midfielders in one team?
Mancini plays a conservative midfield. Medel-Melo in Inter, De Jong-Barry in City at first, but changed it when Toure blossomed as box to box.
