Nicolás Otamendi spoke about the French celebrations after Argentina’s 1-0 loss at the Olympics.

Otamendi played the entire match for Argentina in their 1-0 loss vs. France on Friday. After France’s win, the French players were celebrating in the direction of family members of the Argentina Olympic team. Otamendi spoke to Gastón Edul after the match. Here is what he had to say:

“I am very angry that they went to where the family members were to celebrate in his face.

“That ‘Balde’, ‘Bade’, if he feels like celebrating, let him come to where we are and we will solve it there. We’ll talk about whatever we have to talk about.”

“Before becoming World Champion I went through defeats and I know what it’s like. The boys did well. We lacked a goal.”

  1. After what happened with Copa America celebrations, that infamous hit song, I’d expect Argentine players and fans to be given special rivalry treatments going forward. As much as it’s lack of class, I expect Argentine players need to take responsibilities of their own actions and take chips their shoulders and man up about it instead of complaining about lack of class. Last thing I want to hear is Argentine players complaining about gamesmanship. Yes there will be hostilities towards Argentina going forward but at the same time there are also a lot Africans, like me who appreciated the truth in the songs. Anyways, let Argentine players do their talking on the pitch, at the same time knowing that hostilities or not, everyone wants to beat the World Champion. This was the same post Mexico 86. Argentine football will always be great.

  2. Based on these celebrations from Brazil, Cr7 and french fans then Olympics football tournament is big one. Therefore Messi’s gold medal should be considered as an international 🏆

  3. ARGENTINA is WC Champion, back to back Copa champion, the team is great and will only get better with new blood, it’s the cherry on top of the already Cherry. No team can win everything and I sound like a broken record but nothing will ever change around here, yesterday’s Hero is today’s villain, enjoy relax and give your mind a rest until the qualifiers start.
Inter Miami plays tomorrow and I’m curious to see if Messi plays or not.
Frenchy still might not have the last laugh, tough competition awaits them from either Spain or Morocco……we can mock them then.

  4. Finally disappointing end. Arg.played thr best. But some tactical changes and player selected for this not enough for this match.Maschs tactics and approaches reminds us our previous coaches .There is high hopes in Echverri .but Maschi is avoiding him most of every match.

    • not only that.

Medina died in the middle of second half and it was clearly seen he should be already substituted. but Mascherano waited for the very end of the game.

  5. So what they celebrated. What do you expect them to do since WC 2022 and Copa antics and mocking? Maybe next time we win, we show class. Then we can expect to shake hands and move on.

    • You know you guys really frustrates me? Like where is your fucking passion if you support a team I suppose you actually do support Argentina for real! What class you on about? wtf did we do after World Cup? Utter nonsense when you call Vargentina!! That’s a fucking disgraceful and you are in Argentina team forum? Where is your passion? Who’s side you on? You lot made a simple celebration a race fucking thing. It was fact mate not race attack! Where was you all when they mocked Messi height on 2018? And you guys here would be naive to think French team wouldn’t mock us if they had won 2022

      • I mentioned “Vargentina,” referring to what people have been saying online. I said, “I guess we are Vargentina, but I’ll take it,” referring to the goal VAR removed from France. If it were the other way around, we as fans would be upset. And yes, I stand by my comment that we don’t always show class. When we lose, we want to fight; when we win, we act childish. I used to not want to listen to my friends who pointed this out, but it is true—we don’t show class. I remember Michael Jordan, when losing, would just say, “No excuse, kudos to them; they played better.” When Jordan won, he would say, “They played an unbelievable series; give them credit,” and he would not rub it in. In all honesty, I’m not mad we lost. The game showed us who could come to NT, and who could improve. It means nothing really except bragging rights. People used to treat 2008 medal like it was a glorified friendly and said Messi never won anything. Nothing wrong with wanting your team to show class in win or defeat. This is why the world prefers Messi over Ronaldo.

      • Shut your fucking mouth. Just because we support Argentina doesn’t mean we can’t speak the truth. When we beat Holland at the World Cup we celebrated in front of them and Paredes smashed the ball at their bench. We won Copa America and started mocking France that had nothing to do with that tournament. Today France beat us and celebrated and now we want to fight disgracefully instead of accepting the loss. If we had simply taken more shots instead of meaningless extra passes we would’ve won that game.

    • You are literally annoying all the Argentina fans here. See it’s simple if someone does something to you, you might be able to forgive them however it is totally different matter when it comes to your family.
I think the Argentina players showed more class than these frenchies.

      • Cowards try to hide behind their families. What physical harm is someone celebrating in front of your family going to cause exactly? This was just an excuse for Argentina to be sore losers and start fighting. There’s no excuse.
