Lisandro Martínez of Ajax called up to Argentina national team

Lisandro Martínez has been called up to the Argentina national team for the November World Cup qualifiers.

Martínez joins the team for November after having missed out for the October World Cup qualifying games. With the likes of Marcos Acuna and Paulo Dybala out, Argentina coach has called up Leonardo Balerdi and now Lisandro Martínez of Ajax to the team. Here’s the updated squad:

  6. Argentine players are so unlucky with injuries, so finally Alario took advantage for his post rival absence, it will be neirly impossible for Shick to start again after Alario hot form.

    • If Bosz starts Schick ahead of him when he gets the chance I will be furious. Especially given the Palacios issue. Alario is prolific and much better than Schick and Volland when he was at the club.
      So far this season: 7 goals in six league games – 1 goal in 3 Europa league – 1 goal in one cup game
      9 goals in 10 games

  8. Heard that Lazio,Fiorentina and Inter player wont be allowed to be called up to NT. If its true then no Toro ,Correa,Quarta .
    Hopefully Gaich,Romero/Senesi and Angel Correa gets called up

        Argentina can be classed as a “Corona risk area” being top 10 of total cases.
        We already have plenty of players ruled out… Hope it won’t happen…

    • All our strikers walk into wcq in great form. Alario now 7goals & just behind lewandoski in league , nico scored & assisted yesterday, lautaro 2 goals against quality opposition, jcorrea a wonderful assist against juve & messi back on fire. Can’t ask for more.
      Now want to see emi vs arsenal at Emirates.

  10. Awesome show by cromero today. He handled lautaro & later Lukaku very well. Not seen such a commanding defensive performance by an Argentine Center Back against quality club opposition for a long time. Gasperini is clearly fixing the kid. His 2 drawbacks last season was card discipline & no passing ability. Romero just has 2 cards in 7 games this season & now forward passing more confidently. 2 assists not a bad start. Scaloni can’t ignore him for long.

  11. I’m sad acuna is out for the qualifiers but for now this is a great blessing in disguise. If he’s placed as a CB, He can absolutely kill it and take otamendi one step closer to leaving. In midfield he can prove to be a great option as well.

    • Yes. Glad scaloni correcting 1 mistake. Lisandro is just an average LB. But as LCB or DM , he is very good & can add a lot of value. Hope scaloni leverages that & thinks beyond otamendi & kannemann. The next 2 mistakes for scaloni to fix is cromero & buendia constant overlook.

        Imagine lisandro martinez, c romero, m senesi, L balerdi …….we have so many fucking good cbs for our future …
        Just need to fix our rb and lb position and then we are all set.

    • You people are too optimistic about Lisandro Martinez,How you can say he will replace Otamendi, a CB needs height and solid physicality he lacks both plus he lacks speed too do not know about his stamina as he is weak physically. He is choosen after Acuna’s injury so he is thrid choice for Left Back role.

        • I am talking about general idea Football is there for more than 8 decades,many exceptional player can come but the list you offered no one is world class defenders except Puyol.
          What about Maldini, Sergio Ramos, Pepe,
          Pique,Thiago Silva etc. Give names of current players

      • Kavi ur statements prove that u have not watched lisandro. I don’t know on what basis u say he has no speed. If licha has no speed , pezzella & otamendi are snails . Licha uses his body very well to shield attackers.he is no weakling if u have seen him. His confidence on ball can bring a much needed assurance that is needed at back when bringing ball out. When ajax is attacking penalty corners & set pieces , lisandro is a common feature among attackers. That’s enough vindication on his aerial strength. First see some games of these players before making such diametrically opposite statements . This is just continuation of ur remarks on senesi, Acuna , marquinhos etc.

          • Also our best CBs arguably were passarella & Ayala who were both short. While no one is saying that height is not an advantage for center backs , there are enough exceptions to prove that you can play as a CB at the highest level without being 6ft plus if you have other strong facets to the defensive game.

        • Why you people are comparing Lisandro Martinez to these world class Argentinian defender to prove your point. At least Lisandro does not deserve it. I do not know these defenders I have not seen them ever play in field.Lisandro Martinez is not a CB material for Argentina. Period.
