Alexis Mac Allister spoke about playing in the World Cup final and playing next to Lionel Messi.

Mac Allister is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. At 24 years old, he has already won the biggest prize in World football and had an assist in the World Cup final. Speaking in an interview with Infobae, Mac Allister spoke about it all. Here is what he had to say:

“The key was Lionel Messi on an individual level. He had a great World Cup, he is a different player and he has the capacity to overcome difficult moments. As much for me and for our team mates, it’s playing with our idol.

“It’s a joy and a huge challenge but we enjoy it a lot and we are aware that he is our leader both on and off the pitch. There are small details abotu him, especially off the pitch that make him a very positive leader.

“In general, it was a very remarkable World Cup for everyone and personally, there were some very nice moments. But the final was the most important game and where I felt the most comfortable.”

In regards to the fans:

“What stayed with me the most was the connection that the team was able to have with the people. After winning the World Cup, what we experienced in Argentina was crazy and we enjoyed it a lot. But I think nothing is a surprise anymore.”

Reflecting on himself:

“I’m not going to complain. I am 24 years old, I am a World champion, I play in one of the best leagues in the world and I feel that my career is growing.

“I still have my feet on the ground and I really want to improve, being a better person and a better football player every day. We’;ll see what the future brings.

“My routine remains the same. I am a very calm guy who likes to go train, enjoy and after that go home and throw myself on the couch. Being with my family, friends or people that I have close to me. Although I have much more recognition, my life is still the same as always and I continue to enjoy it very much.”
