England FA contacting AFA for friendly vs. Argentina national team

The England FA have reportedly contacted the AFA for a friendly against the Argentina national team.

For the first time in nearly 20 years, we could have England against Argentina. According to Mark Ogden of ESPN, FA chief executive Mark Bullingham stated that setting up a match between the two countries is not a problem of money but more of a schedule problem. Bullingham was quoted as saying the following:

“There are various conversations we have had with lots of countries about friendlies against them.

“They [Argentina] are one of the countries we have spoken to at some point, but there is nothing in the pipeline for them at this stage.”

Argentina have six matches remaining this year, all of which are World Cup qualifiers. For next year, there is a FIFA window in March with no matches yet but there is the 2024 Copa America in June and July which is followed by World Cup qualifying matches in September, October and November.

  1. I really hope they can make this friendly happen. Argentina vs England is always a big rivalry. It has been 18 long years since they played each other and it would be a shame for Messi to retire and not having played against England once.

  2. MacAllister unfairly sent off which should not have been more than a verbal warning. Both players were going for the ball. Meanwhile Senesi is keeping Salah queit so far!!
