  1. Predictable list (not a bad thing btw) with a few question marks.

Really don’t understand why Armani is there, especially with Gazanigga (Girona) and Ledesma (despite Cadiz’s troubles) are far more worthy. Also why have 4 GKs in the first place?

    Defense:
    – Quarta is doing well but he’s too inconsistent and IMO Medina and Nahuen Perez are far, FAR better. In any case Foyth is injured so expect Medina (or Senesi) to be called up.
    – Some of you are calling for Pezzella to be dropped but that wouldn’t make much sense because the guy is playing regularly for Betis and he’s doing just fine.
    – Pelligrino is only there for Mascherano’s olympics preparation, otherwise he makes absolutely no senes because he’s not playing for AC Milan,

    Midfield:
    – No Nico Dominguez and Varela is a mistake IMO but Paredes and Guido are still playing regularly so don’t expect to see the former 2 called up for copa but I expect to see Nico and Varela in the next WC especially if they continue playing well.
    – Celso is injured so I don’t expect to see him going with the team to S.America and I don’t expect Scaloni to call anyone else to replace him.
    – I’m guessing that Alcaraz and Zapelli are there for the olympic team otherwise their presence makes no sense.

    Attack:

    – No Angel (due to a knock I’m guessing) but why is Lio there (unless news have come out that he’s recovered).
    – Farias and Beltrán are for the olympics I’m guessing.
    – No Soule is a big omission that really needs to be corrected ASAP.

As I said before a predictable list with some eyebrow raising choises but we all have to remember that I don’t expect to see any major changes e.g. Medina /Senesi replacing Pezzella/Otamendi or Nico Dominguez / Varela replacing Guido / Paredes until AFTER copa.

    • THIS!

Honestly, Scaloni and co have surpassed all expectations and I am willing to give them not only full trust but all the benefit of the doubt. We see things from our limited perspectives but surely they are a lot more informed than we are.

  2. Under Scaloni the team stay in prime level, so we don’t have any doubts about him and his team staffs ability. However I wish if there were some changes it would be more reliable for the fans…

    Sergio Romero >> Armani
    Senessi or Medina >> Pezella
    Nico Dominguez >> Guido Rodriguez
    Angel Correa >> Lucas Ocompas
    Martas Soule >> Facundo Farias

    • Soule is turning into a great player. He attack, defend…and ready to work hard.
I think Farias included because he’s a better goal scorer at the moment than Soule. Scaloni prefers strikers who can score goals. Farias can score different types of goals. He’s a fighter also.

    • Not sure about Nico better than Guido – but Guido is more organized and is better built and plays the role that Scaloni’s asks him too..

May be Benjamin Cresmaschi can be an understudy to De Paul or Guido?

  3. No one is talking about Lucas Esquivel. He is a nice choice. Young player playing in Brazilian league but has all the potential play in Europe. He is strong with good height.

    • He will be remembered as one of the best penalty saving goalkeeper of the football history and always played well for Argentina national team irrespective of his club form…

  4. We should believe in scaloni. He had lots of time to injucting youngsters into his squad. I think soule is a great backup for dmaria. And Farias is also going to be a key backup in NT. I think Scaloni need to find couple of main defenders into his squad…

  5. Why people here acting like scaloni select u23 player for NT. He selected in the list so there club will release the player.. other than senior NT. Club can refused to release the player. Soule should have been on list.
There is no need to select 4 GK every time. 4GK and 3 rb is useless think..

  6. Exclusion of Alan Varela, Matias Soule, Facundo medina yet calling Facundo Farias, Bruno Zapelli signals bad message. The youngsters from Argentine league like Exequiel zeballos, Valentin barco, Gianluca prestianni, echeverri are better players. Before someone tells me they are still young likes of Lamine Yamal at 16 are playing for their NT. The defense should be addressed; Otamedi and Pezella must be replaced. Especially Pezella on that defense spells complete disaster. Just as I said earlier, 2026 is not very far away.

  7. Not including Matias Soule is a mistake. Already many clubs in Europe are showing interest in him and he might be targeted by Italy NT. Not sure if that is possible any more. He’s the second best player for completed dribbles in the whole of Serie A and he’s only played four games. If he’d played six, maybe he’d be first.

  8. I don’t why Medina is not in the list. with 2 old left full back, I believe Medina is an alternative either as full back or defender. I am Happy LoCelso, Dybala and Foyth are back.

  9. Scaloni must be drunk..

WTF is Almada still doing here? Atlanta United labeled him 10 milion and still got no serious offers…

Southampton is 10th in Championship league.. how can a player from this team over Alan Varela???

Fancundo Farias is a big fraud in Inter Miami. He can’t even make simple pass and dribble against part-time plumbers…

Including those players is a big disgrace to a NT who just won the WC.

    • Almada is a great player, not a fraud. Many disagree with you on that one…

Alcaraz might be more of a Mascherano call up with an eye for U23, he’s still 20 years old. This list just like last one contains both U23 and senior call ups. Hence Zapelli and Esquivel again. Alan Varela is a DM and we already have Enzo, Paredes, Mac Allister, Guido to play in that position.

    • Almada is top class. The reason he is still at MLS is because Atlanta were adamant to sell him coz they didn’t have a replacement and transfer window in MLS was closed.

  10. Very disappointed with Alan Varela and Matias Soule not selected ( two most inform player ) and happy with Marco pelegrini selection. Expecting valentin barco called up but he may be not selected because of boca club fixtures…

  11. Martinez Quarta was an early favourite of Scaloni and now that he is been playing better for Fiorentina it is not a surprise to see him get a call up. Still, I would personally prefer Senesi who is left-footed unlike Quarta and also a bit taller than him, 185 cm vs 183. As long as Pezzella is still there though we can assume that the pecking order is Otamendi – Pezzella – some other central defender.

Farías is a good player, if Inter Miami did not snatch him he would have ended up at least in Portugal so it’s good to see him included.

Marco Pellegrino is a surprise but maybe it’s to ward off Italy again?

  12. I really expected Alan Varela and Nico Dominguez will be called up …instead Zapelli and Alcarez got call up.

Scaloni opened the door for everyone.

Pellegrino and Quarta IN…but Senesi, Medina OUT is also a surprise.. especially when Lisandro is injured.

  13. Why so many players from sub standerd League.

I dont understand Inclusion of LMQ,Facundo farias, bruno zapelli when we have players like Nico paz,Soule,Varela,Senesi.

    • I’ve said many times in the past. Once you include the MLS fraud, it permanently change the selection standard…. Player will know that they have a chance no matter which league they are in…… Bad thing for NT in the long term.

    • Such inclusions are really discouraging. I hope Sampaoli spirit doesn’t possess him. Let him stick with players from European top league and Argentina league. The exemption is Thiago Almada as long as he makes a quick switch to Europe.

  14. Surprised that Soule or Paz or Barco haven’t been called. Maybe the focus is on sub 23 players with pre Olympics around the corner rather than sub 20 players. Also goes to show with Buannontte not being called, that playing regularly for their clubs is key for Scaloni as he has considered Alcaraz
