Julián Álvarez was named the Man of the Match for the Argentina vs. Canada game at the 2024 Copa America.
Álvarez scored the first goal for Argentina in their 2-0 win vs. Canada in the Copa America opener. The 24 year old started, scored and played 76 minutes for the reigning Copa America champions.
The match vs. Canada was the first time that Álvarez started a Copa America match and it was his first Copa America goal.

Would be great to see a bit of Valentin Carboni and Garnacho in action, maybe against Peru if ARG gets the job done as hopefully they will and could be great see slowly some new blood intergrated more in to team, though i know it won’t happen instantly, which totally understandable as SCALONI & CO allways thinks which is best for team in every possible scenario and each game obviously different, but i think, that Peru’s team is relatively old if one could say so and therefore Carboni and Garnacho could be an asset against tired legs of Peruvian’s players, perhaps..?
I was always thinking Canada will be our hardest match in our group because physicality and fast players and turned to be that way even though if we had finished our chances would have made a lot easier for us btw well done lich and cuti for playing together as pair in tournament match yes they played together but as back three never as back two before last night’s match

Gongrats Julian from me and my kids as all of us waking a up at 2:30 am, obviously with the alarm for the kids and most of the time for myself as well, but this time as it has happened before also( as almost every ARG game I have watched,besides WC game’s starts at around 1-5 am ) I somehow woke up before the alarm and by knowing how difficult this first game of COPA24 will be in terms of the pitch, opponent and maybe a bit of pressure as well, so I did not get that frustrated or nervous mostly due to support of my kids as they kept believing as they did when ARG won the last COPA, FINALISSIMA and WC22 and we are very happy for the win against Canada, who impressed us also even, though we were expecting a tight game and we are so happy for LA SELECCION to contribute in the way they did and obviously for the clean sheet and for those 2 goals scored by Julian & Lautaro with MESSI involved directly in both of goals and the bravery of Alexis to give that final pass for Julian to score the first goal!
Once more we’re so greatfull to be able to watch ALBICELESTE as allways before and specially to get a win over Canada in their first game of COPA24!
