Erik Lamela joins AEK Athens in Greece

Erik Lamela has joined AEK Athens in Greece.

Lamela will be continuing his club career in Europe. The 32 year old joins them from Sevilla on a free transfer.

Per AEK Insider, Lamela will get a payment of €1.5 million up front, €2 million a year on a three year contract. The Argentine originally started his career with River Plate before joining AS Roma in 2011 where he spent three years with the club. He later joined Tottenham Hotspur, spending eight years with them before joining Sevilla.

  1. Once a promising player, Francesco Totti called him his heir and advised him not to leave Roma. However, Lamela left Roma to play for a struggling Tottenham, and then injuries (hip, legs, etc.) affected his career.

    • Yes, I like Lamela a lot. I thought that he would be in our national team back in 2019ish but unfortunately he had issues.
