Gio Lo Celso will be joining Aston Villa from Tottenham Hotspur.

Lo Celso is going to stay in the Premier League but will have a new club. According to Fernando Czyz, Lo Celso will play with Aston Villa.

He will join Emiliano Martínez, Emiliano Buendía and Enzo Barrenechea at the club and rejoin Unai Emery, his former coach at Villarreal.

  1. Good move if true, he did great under Emery in Villareal. Still, I have to echo what some of you have said in that Gio isn’t made for the EPL, but considering the fact that Villa has CL this season I hope that he and Barranechea will get some good playing time while constantly rotating.

Other moves like Almada’s to Lyon (club on an ascend thanks to Sage), Soule (possibly) to Roma under DeRossi or under Motta if he stays at Juve in addition to the aforementioned Barranechea and Celso and this may bode well for Argentina in the transfer market this season.
Also, I really hope that Perrone finds another club in Spain that could give him minutes like Las Palmas did last season and that Alcaraz and Paz find clubs that give them a chance because they’re very talented and deserve recognition.

  2. Thats better. Our creative players need to up their game. Lo celso still has time to up his game and can become a consistent player at top level. We need him as we lack creative players.
Also Romero has to get out from that shit spurs team. He is an elite player. Romero and araujo for barca would be cooking. His great defensive contributions are going unnoticed due to a mid team like spurs. I hope he can get into a great team this summer or next.

    • Suadi pro league is better than most European leagues, except the top 5 leagues in Europe and soon it will take over likes French league and bundesliga

      • Dont make me laugh, its a weak retirement league. Ligue 1 produced a back to back WC finalist team players, how can you conpare this to saudi league? Normal player sinply doesnt go there.

      • Stop kidding yourself.
You are now echoing Cr7 sentiments. Which European league is inferior? Ligue1? Liga Portugal? Bundesliga?Dutch league? Turkish league?
I infact rate Argentina league and Brazilian league better unless we are talking about money issue. But standard of the game in Saudi pro is at an amateur level.

  3. Very tricky plyr .but injury prone and is better to join italy or spain. These creative players like pastore lamela and now locelso are injury prone plyrs.

  4. Aston villa will be my team that I will support in the epl and hope lo celso joins them and stay injury free too because he will be cooking under unai Emery btw aston villa fans are hyped what is come from young Argentina midfielder Enzo Barrenechea

  5. Excellent move, if goes through! Last year of contract left at Spurs who arw happy to get whatever Villa is willing to pay. Not only he gets to play under a manager who truly knows his potential, he also gets to play in Champions league. Based on pure skill, is there any other midfielder in Villa better than Locelso!

  6. This move has pros and cons, pros – Unai Emery knows and appreciates Lo Celso from their time in Villareal and is likely to use him a lot. Cons – Lo Celso’s fragile body is not suited to playing in England, he would be much better off in Spain or Italy. So this move is only as good as Lo Celso’s injury prone body can handle…

    • Oh really? Wow! Is that what Lo Celso and his medical team told you or you just sat down at home feeling smart and pulled that out of your ass?

      • Spiderboy, is there a rare midsummer chinook blowing from the Rockies causing brain cells to melt? Is that the level of discourse you are bringing to this forum? Trolls tend to have a short lifespan around here, just saying. Keep the conversation respectful and on point.

      • We’ve known this for a while actually and it is very basic logical deduction that gets you to that conclusion.

Lo Celso is a very injury prone player and has been for years.

The premier league is more physically strenuous and demanding than the Italian and Spanish leagues. This is well known in the sport and agreed upon by analysts. While of course there are exceptions to every rule in every league, on average, premier league games move a bit faster and the players have more physical pressure exerted. Look at the physical transformation Cuti had to make between Serie A and Tottenham. I am glad he moved to the Premier League because he was able to adapt his physicality and now faces the best forwards in the world weekly.

However, this isn’t the case for everyone. Lo Celso was almost certainly better at Real Betis and Villarreal than in the Prem.

Anyone can assume that it is safer for him to play in a league like Spain or Italy. Can he still get injured? Of course, tons of injuries can come from stepping wrong or tearing something because of one of your movements, which has nothing to do with the league. But anyone can assume that injuries that come from over exertion and physical clashes/tackles with other players will be less likely, because players in these leagues are a bit leaner on average. You have to be at the absolute top peak of athleticism to play in the premier league and for some players that are genetically more injury prone or have already had prior problems, this can cause issues. So no, this hasn’t come out of anyones ass. Many of us have remarked this for years, for some players, it’s better to avoid the prem and play in a league in a country they can not only culturally adapt to better off the pitch to but also stylistically adapt to on the pitch.

      • Chill Ualbert. I dont know how long you ve been here. We dont talk like that. Enganche is very knowledgeable and what he is talking about is no secret. Lo Celso’s fitness track record does not say otherwise. Be respectful.

    • def injury prone but Spurs are ridiculed for how bad their players injury records are. hope a change in club medical staff would prevent or reduce.
