Ángel Di María will renew his contract with Benfica until 2025.
According to Argentine journalist Gastón Edul, Di María had intentions of returning to his beloved Rosario Central after the 2024 Copa América. Nonetheless, due to death threats in Rosario to him and his family in recent months, he prioritized his family’s safety and decided to continue his career with the Portuguese team.
Benfica’s president, Rui Costa, confirmed the news:
“Di María stays at Benfica. It’s already announced. He will remain at Benfica, just like last year when he came after the World Cup to sign a contract. The same has happened now. Di María is a Benfica player.”
