Emiliano Martínez spoke with journalist Christian Martin for DSports about winning the Lev Yashin Award for the second year in a row, his incident with the camera operator after the match against Colombia, and the current situation in Argentina.

Dibu expressed his amazement at winning the Lev Yashin Award for the second consecutive year:

“It’s crazy to have received this award for a second year in a row. I never imagined winning it once, let alone twice. I still can’t believe it.”

Aston Villa’s goalkeeper commented on Argentina’s current situation as a country:

“It’s difficult to grow in the country, but Argentina is Argentina; as an Argentine, you’re always going to love it. For years, things were very bad, but now things that can be improved are starting to change.”

Martínez referred for the first time to the slap he gave to the camera operator after the match against Colombia:

“There was no need; it was a bit invasive. He was laughing, and it’s just moving the camera. But it’s done now; I accepted the sanction, which is honestly unfair, but I hope he does well.”

He shared a message of hope with all fans of the Argentina national team, demonstrating his winning mentality:

“May the people continue to support us because we have the Finalissima to play, the World Cup in two years, and we want to be the best national team in history. We are not satisfied.”
