Lionel Messi scored for Inter Miami CF in their 3-2 home loss to Atlanta United in the first round of the MLS Cup tiebreaker game. With this result, Gerardo “Tata” Martino’s team is eliminated from the competition and will not play another official match until February 2025, when they compete in the first round of the Concacaf Champions Cup.

At 2-1 in favor of Atlanta United, Messi received a cross just inches from the goal and headed it into the back of the net to level the score at 2-2. However, his goal wasn’t enough, as Inter Miami conceded again only 11 minutes later, allowing 9th-seeded Atlanta to secure an upset over top-seeded Inter Miami.

  1. Guzan showed the performance of his life against Messi sadly. In this Atlanta series Messi had 3,5 expected goal on target (from his shot quality should have scored 3,5 goals against an average shot stopping) and 3,0 expected assist. Crazy, Guzan and Messi teammates robbed him from 4,5 goals statistically, none can controll this bad luck, not even Messi. Ofc his haters troll him finally but Messi is nowhere near as finished like CR who is goddamn awful, imo Messi playmaking on his all time highest. Ki

    • Tata’s strategy is the main problem, he has learned nothing from his series of failure at Barcelona, Argentina and Mexico. He simply doesn’t have players play such highline and he went with it anyways! Miami needs a new manager! He was outclassed and out smarted by a manager whose portfolio is nothing compared to his.

  2. After he scored the equalizer Messi who doesn’t really express himself made some gesture to his poor midfield & defenders to settle down and not make any more mistakes but they just couldn’t control their bang average habits.

Garnacho today did himself a huge favor by scoring a good goal. With multiple misses that was final nail in Eric Ten Hag’s coffin and Amad showing superior futballing IQ, next manager was easily going to bench him but now he will get more mins but for his current skills , he better off the bench against tired legs. Scaloni also should seriously consider Garnacho as an impact 15 to 20mins sub until he improves his finishing and decision making!
