Argentina U20 team win 6-0 vs. U20 Brazil team, Claudio Echeverri scores twice

The Argentina U20 team won 6-0 against the U20 Brazil team at the South American Youth Championship in a historic result with Claudio Echeverri scoring twice.

Diego Placente’s team scored six goals against Brazil to begin the South American Youth Championship. They scored three goals in five minutes to start the match and it was Valentino Acuña who dribbled around the Brazilian defender down the wing and played a pass in to Ian Subiabre and he scored to give Argentina the 1-0 lead.

A minute later, Claudio Echeverri received the ball in midfield and ran towards the Brazilian back line. He dribbled around a defender and scored Argentina’s second goal of the match. Claudio Echeverri would get the pass in on Argentina’s third goal of the match, a pass across goal which was touched by the Brazilian Serrote and in for an own goal.

The second half would start the same way the match did and that was with goals. Agustín Ruberto would score minutes into the second half and Claudio Echeverri would score moments later to make it 5-0 for Argentina.

Placente’s team were awarded a corner kick and a cross into the penalty area found Santiago Hidalgo who scored the header to make it 6-0 for the Argentina U20 team.

Argentina lead Group B in the standings and will play Colombia on Sunday.

    • LOL! Yup can’t argue with that one!
I have to say that aside from the dominant whooping against the yellow team and the young talent on display (especially Diablito and Acuna) the thing that excites me the most is Placente himself. His U17 team was fantastic and I really hope he continues that trend with u20 because I can see him taking over the NT in the coming future.

In other news, our boys in Italy (Paz, Perrone and Dominguez) are all doing well. I’m glad to see Perrone back after that lengthy injury of his and I have to say that Fabregas is doing a good job with Como, they might be low in the ranking but if they continue to improve like that I not only see them staying up in Serie A this season but also being competitive in the next season.

      • Yes, Placente almost win the u17 , they only lost to Germany on penalties, coming back from 2 goals behind. Its always better to have low profile managers like Sabella, Scaloni and Placente rather than guys who’s screaming and jumping around on touchlines like Diego, Sampaoli and Masche.

Paz is definetely something. He already had an assist for mr.goat in qualifier. Although I dont know why Scaloni often wait so long to field a young players.

That jinking run and assist from Acuna for the first goal was magical and set the tone for the rest of the match. It sent Brazil into panic frenzy like in 2014 semi.

    • Yes! Valentino Acuña was great! For me a he was revelation in yesterday’s game, he played so well. Started in deep midfield as part of the double pivot but he was everywhere. Don’t think Newell’s will hold on to him for long if he continues to play like that.

Fun fact about this kid, according to TYC Sports, film director Alex de la Iglesia watched clips of him play and decided to cast him as the body double of a young Messi in the Messi movie.
