April was a great month for many top Argentine players. We had to narrow it down to the following six: Lionel Messi (Inter Miami), Julián Álvarez (Atlético Madrid), Lautaro Martínez (Inter), Matías Soulé (AS Roma), Franco Mastantuono (River Plate), and Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool). We had to leave out players like Thiago Almada, Valentín Castellanos and Emiliano Buendía, who also had a strong month.
Lionel Messi was crucial for Inter Miami in their comeback win against LAFC in the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Champions League. He scored twice against French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, securing his team’s spot in the semifinals of the competition.
Julián Álvarez scored four goals in five matches for Atlético Madrid — one against Sevilla, two against Valladolid, and one against Rayo Vallecano — climbing to fourth place in the La Liga top scorers list this season.
Lautaro Martínez scored in both legs of Inter’s Champions League quarterfinal clash against Bayern Munich, leading his team to the semifinals. He also found the net in Serie A against Cagliari.
Matías Soulé scored a stunning goal in the Rome derby against Lazio and added another goal against Inter, earning a spot as a regular starter for AS Roma.
Franco Mastantuono scored one of the greatest goals in the history of the Superclásico for River Plate and is now being strongly considered for a call-up by Lionel Scaloni to the Argentina national team — at just 17 years old.
Alexis Mac Allister scored a brilliant goal in Liverpool’s victory that clinched the Premier League title. The Argentine capped off a dream season with the Reds.
Thats why it is important for argentina to win the 2026 world cup without an alien like player. This time it is sure that messi’s influence would be half or much lesser of what was in 2022. If we can win the 2026 wc with pure team effort it would be the ideal redemption for all Argentine players in Europe. I believe in scaloni. ❤️
It’s so frustrating to see this much hate for Argentine players. Aston villa looking for emi replacement is a shocking news for me. Emi made an error against psg and that itself made emery thinks emi is a liability. And what about Villa’s useless defense and other avg players. Rubbish. Look at arsenals GK, and look at the support from their fans and the coach towards him. And he himself made a lot of errors. And still he is getting the recognition. And compare it with emi situation. He is 2 time best goal keeper. And still the coach reckon him as a liability.
Also the situation of lo celso. He shouldered betis alone in the initial phase. And now that rubbish pelligrini needs only that flop Antony and isco and playing lo celso as sub. Why Argentine players are getting this much ignorance from Europe?
