Lionel Messi free kick goal for Inter Miami in 2-1 win vs. FC Porto

Lionel Messi scored a free kick for Inter Miami in their 2-1 win against FC Porto.

Messi got his first goal at this Club World Cup, scoring a free kick for Inter Miami. It was FC Porto who took a 1-0 lead but Marcelo Weigandt had an assist for Telasco Segovia who scored to draw Inter Miami level.

With the score at 1-1, Inter Miami were awarded a free kick and it was Messi who took it. The Argentine scored the free kick to give Inter Miami the 2-1 lead.

Inter Miami are now on four points, tied with Palmeiras but behind on goal difference.

  1. Messi proved once again against a European team that he’s still got it. The number of chances he created and the free kick he scored show that he’s become an incredible playmaker, maybe even better than Zidane or Xavi, and the best we’ve seen since Maradona.

    He’s not as fast as he used to be which has affected his dribbling significantly, and his finishing isn’t as sharp as before. But his vision and passing are still on another level. With a solid striker up front and quick wingers and fullbacks, Messi can still cause serious problems for any defense.
