I am surprised Roma hasn’t offloaded Dybala yet specifically after a miserable last season, 6 goals and 3 assists in 24 matches out of 38! Is Scaloni still going to rely on Locelso, Depaul and Paredes? Are there no young CMs ready to take over them if not, brace for another 2018 WC disaster! Has Sociedad been able to complete Equi Fernandez’s transfer? N.Domingez was able to force his way into the starting xi of a team that finished 6th in epl before he got injured! Our biggest strength , our midfield all of a sudden looks very fragile!
Real Sociedad are the one who have delayed top the offer. Al-Qadsiah wanted an improved offer of around €20m but Sociedad offered €18m. The dumb thing of going to these other league like Saudi and MLS, the European clubs will only want to buy players at a cheap price. Almada struggling to join Europe should be a lesson to other young Argentine players.
Right now the Saudi club has threatened to increase release clause of equi Fernández to €50m is Real Sosciedad delays.
It’s time for the likes of barrenchea, palacios, Dominguez, varela, Santiago hezze to up their games and prove scaloni they are prepared. Varela & Santiago hezze should move to a better league to up their games.
Equi Fernandez should force a move to Europe if he is serious.
Scaloni didnt like pure defensive midfielders wo attacking skills (Guido was the only one but just a rotation player) even Paredes is a regista with great passing skills. Barrenechea, Varela, Equi, Hezze, Perrone and Dominguez too are mostly pure defensive midfielders (5 or 6 in Europe) with minimal offensive skills and nowhere near as good registas as Paredes or box to box players as De Paul or Lo Celso who can do all. Scaloni never liked and used this profile. He rather used Enzo or Macallister sometimes as 5/6 says all and it works. We need box to box players who can make all (defending, passing playmaking, running even goalscoring sometimes) forget the Equi’s under Scaloni but we have no higher profile complete midfielders from youngs so Lo Celso and De Paul will be there in WC squad wo options. We have no young De Paul no young Lo Celso no young Enzo no young Macca no young Palacios. Who? Cristian Medina or Carlos Alcaraz? Not this level.
Too early to make conclusions alot can change.
But you forget right now there are too many attacking midfielders like Almada, Echeverri, Nico Paz. DePaul performance of late have been dismal and his decision to join MLS was selfish ( my personal opinion). Paredes case is understandable, he needs playing minutes plus I rate Argentine league higher than MLS.
Equi Fernandez is very good with his passing and press resistant. Should luck be on his side and joins Europe the whole thing might change.
But can these type of young classic attacking midfielders (10) play in 3 men midfield system (used under Scaloni mostly)? Nico Paz, Almada, Echeverri, Mastantuono, Buonanotte and co. played neirly never there because of their lack of defending skills. If the answer is no Scaloni wont use them as a midfielder just as an attacker, not what we want (fluid football with fluid midfielders, the main reason Scaloneta is so good, no more broken team syndrome with pure defending midfielders unable to attack and pure attacking midfielders unable to defend.)
Regardless of what one thinks of Lo Celso, I am glad that he had a meaningful cameo in the Copa America 24 final. His one touch through pass to Lautaro unlocked the Colombian defense.
@Godin, Locelso is not overrated but like Pablo Aimar,Dyabala, Exequiel Palacios and Gago his career was ruined due to recurrence of injuries.
Pastore and Lamela say hi
You Can’t put same bracket lo celso and pablo aimar, He had a successfully club career win with two la ligas and Europe league back then was uefa cup Scored over 65 career goals no fair to compare him with pablo aimar , i even believe palacios has better club career than club than lo celso and probably better player overall
I doubt whether u have seen that Valencia team thatc won the European cup. Benitez used him as cameo in most of the matches including the final. I would assume fitness was the isssue. Don’t forget Locelco too won cups with PSG including the French league and additional couple of cups. Most importantly he won 02 Copa with the NT.
Aimar’s international career was quite poor if compared to his club career. He never lived up to his potential which is a fact! Locelso had the skills and talent to surpass many great midfielders but injuries ruined everything for him!
Is lo celso overrated? Personally yes
