Alejandro Garnacho, Valentín Barcos, Nicolás Domínguez and Taty Castellanos are back in the Argentina national team.
Garnacho, Barcos, Domínguez and Castellanos are the four players back in the Argentina national team for the June World Cup qualifiers. Garnacho was part of the team for the November matches but was not picked for the March World Cup qualifying matches against Uruguay and Brazil.
Valentín Barco has only played one match for Argentina and that was in March 2024, a 3-0 win against El Salvador.
Nicolás Domínguez last played for Argentina in November 2021, a 0-0 draw against Brazil while Taty Castellanos played againat Paraguay in November.
xavi is desparte to sign franco mastantuono..
Xabi Alonso? Desperate sounds a bit too much, no?
links are coming hope its true..doesn’t want him to be end up in EPL..
If Real gets him, I hope he gets loaned to develop, back to River or Como or some other club where he will get time to play, cause he won’t at Real.
I am looking forward to see what Scaloni’s plan is for Foyth! He is a CB who can also play as a solid RB. With Lisandro’s poor fitness and unreliability and Foyth continuous development into a more dependable defender, I won’t be surprised if Scaloni has visioned him as our starting CB. Additionally, Juan Foyth doesn’t seem to make the silly mistakes he was proned to making nowadays!
Here is why I don’t see this as likely, I’ve never seen Foyth play LCB, not saying he can’t, but he’s always on the right side of defense, either as RCB or RB. Assuming Cuti is our starting CB when healthy, the only vacant spot if Otamendi is dropped is LCB, where Balerdi is the preferred option, who is not left footed but played there under Scaloni.
This is the pecking order for central defense at the moment: Cuti, Otamendi, Balerdi (can replace either of the starters), Medina (LCB, LB), Foyth (RCB, RB). Senesi and Perez are not on the radar anymore, nor is Pezzella.
Leo balerdi can equally play both lcb and rcb plus he is faster as well as he good on the ball won’t surprise is he becomes regular starter soon depending on otamendi’ form definitely he will play against chile due suspension of otamendi
Foyth is an excellent player and he’s versatile (CB/RB), the only problem is his injury record but he’s been really good in that department for a while now and I hope it continues.
Scaloni is paying attention to the form, players who are regular and performing are called up, and vice versa. But maybe he does not rate the Brazilian league and only prefers European based players with some exceptions, hence no Bernabei again.
Glad Barco is called up. The CB pecking order is shaping up too: Cuti, Otamendi, Balerdi, Medina, Foyth.
Taty is back, but Castro and Benja are not, they have not played much in the last couple of months.
Garnacho can consider himself lucky to be given a chance, let’s see if he stays on the trimmed list. Nico Dominguez – a deserved call up, he’s a very decent box-to-box player.
Notice, nobody from the local league, no more Pezzella, Montiel, etc.
