Paulo Gazzaniga was red carded for Girona in their 3-1 loss against Rayo Vallecano.
Gazzaniga had a horrific first match of the season for Girona. With the score at 0-0, the ball was played back to Gazzaniga and the goalkeeper had a poor touch of the ball, losing control and Jorge de Frutos would score to give Rayo the 1-0 lead.
At 1-0 for Rayo, it was a low pass out wide as Gazzaniga would stay on his line and the Girona back line was unable to get to it for Rayo’s second goal of the match.
The 33 year old would miss control the ball once more with Rayo leading by two goals. A pass to Gazzaniga and the Argentine had time to control it but he would once more miss control it, lose the ball and this time foul the player.
It would be a red card for the goalkeeper, a penalty for Rayo and they would go on to win 4-1 against Girona.
