Aarón Anselmino plays first match for Borussia Dortmund, substituted out to standing ovation

Aarón Anselmino played his first match for Borussia Dortmund and was substituted out to a standing ovation.

Anselmino started for Borussia Dortmund in their 3-0 win against Union Berlin. The Argentine recently joined Dortmund on loan from Chelsea and was one of the best players on the pitch.

The 20 year old played 76 minutes, making five clearances, two tackles, 88 touches and 73 accurate passes. Dortmund manager Niko Kovač had this to say about Anselmino’s performance:

“Aaron Anselmino produced a world-class performance. That’s why we signed him. He’s physically fit. He just needs to get into his rhythm.”

  1. From the local league (2 from local 1 Saudi) I mentioned a while ago I wanted to see 3 guys in the NT. They are Nardoni, Equi Fernández and Salas. Nardoni can play both no.5 and no.8. Fernandez is hands down the best Argentine midfielder right now.
Salas can completely transform the lethargic NT strike force. He is just what the doctor ordered for our Attack. Sadly, Scaloni seems to ignore players of native origin so that could work against Salas.

    • I hope Salas only a joke, the guy is pure mediocre, average goalscorer and slow, has never seen top defenders just on TV. Nardoni is struggling in a weak Racing Club if he is good why european clubs dont interest in him, his passing skills and composure is not Scaloneta level. Equi is OK but he has to shine in Leverkusen first.

  2. Anselmino had a goal ruled out and made a huge mistake that nearly cost his team. Juan Foyth clone. Good on the ball but awkward physique makes him clumsy. Will take a few years to adjust to the hustle and bustle of European Football. Speaking of Foyth he has come a Long way and for me has to be the RB choice for NT.

    • Agree that Equi Fernandez is the transfer of the season for Argentina NT. But about Anselmino, he’s just 20 years old and it was his first official match in European football. Before yesterday he had only played for 15 mins against Leverkusen in a club friendly. Given the circumstances, I would give his performance a solid 8.
