With Diego Simeone’s team leading 2-0, Álvarez made a run down the wing and into the penalty area, passing it to Antoine Griezmann who scored from close range to give Atletico Madrid the 3-0 lead. His second assist came off a corner kick, a cross into the penalty area found Giuliano Simeone who would head the ball and score.
Atletico Madrid were awarded a penalty kick and it was Álvarez who would take it. He would do the Panenka penalty kick and chip it, with the goalkeeper getting a hand to it but Álvarez would score to give Atletico Madrid the 5-1 lead.
Nahuel Molina and Nicolás González would be substituted into the match for Atletico Madrid.
What’s this about Julian to Barca? Is that real? Hope he stays at Atletico and cement his legend instead of going to Barca and get lost in the shuffle like Griezman did or like Julian himself did in Mancity when he was playing 2nd fiddle to Haaland.
Haven’t seen any of the games (wish I had that kind of time) just the highlights but I have to say that Julian is killing it and Simeone Jr continues to improve although I do agree with you SulaV, he’s raw at the final third and I doubt he’ll become a world beater when it comes to scoring goals but he’s skilled, hard working and athletic, a very useful player to have in one’s team.
Bounonotte had some nice touches but was taken off a bit too early while Garanacho was fantastic and he basically scored that goal. He’s a good player who needs to get his head out of his derier because he’s the only one standing in his own way.
Alvarez can force a transfer to Barca and help Yamal win the BallonDor or stay at Atletico and try to win it himself! Look how Rafphina was ghosted in favor of Yamal in the award. Atletico Madrid is his team and with Alamda & Nico he can actually win a major trophy!
Jr Simeone is a hardworking player but still too raw in final third.
Garnacho finally has his head in right place and is playing for team instead of trying to score Amad & Hojiland like in United.
