Lionel Messi has congratulated the Argentina U20 national team on making the final of the U20 World Cup.
The Argentina national team won 1-0 against Colombia to qualify for the U20 World Cup final on Sunday. Messi’s Inter Miami club team mate Mateo Silvetti had the goal for Argentina as Diego Placente’s team won their semi final match.
Messi himself won the 2005 U20 World Cup and took to his Instagram to congratulate the team. Messi posted a picture of Silvetti and the team celebrating with the caption “Let’s go, to the final! Congratulations everyone! Grande Silvetti!”

Big congrats to the pibes, first final in 18 years and it was a hard fought match.
Placente has shown big creds in the u17 and now the u20s and I would love to see him join Scaloni, Aimar et al in the senior NT set up.
Prestianni was the most impressive player on the field during the match and Delgado was (as usual) the unsung hero and the most consistent player throughout the tournament. Also, I have to say that Silvetti is the most intriguing of all the players thus far, I mean Sarco, Subiabre, Carrizo all had flashes throughout the tournament but Silvetti has shown big individual skill (goal vs Nigeria), pace (goal against Mexico) and now killer finishing against Colombia. Not sure if he’s going to be a world beater (hard to tell with such things) but the kid is one that we all have keep our eyes on.
