Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni speaks on win vs. Burkina Faso, young players

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke about the win against Burkina Faso and the young players.

The Argentina national team won 7-0 against Burkina Faso and coach Lionel Scaloni spoke about the win. Speaking at a press conference after the match, here is what he had to say:

“What the Burkina Faso national team has done is very commendable, it elevates football. We try to respect them and we are very grateful that they were able to come.

“Generally speaking, we achieved our objective. All the young players are bringing freshness, they want to be here.

“Being a national team player means playing every game the same way and that’s what I value. Being able to train is also important. Giving some young players their debut is also great.”

“All the boys who have played have taken advantage of their opportunities. They are boys we know and they can contribute to us.

“We are grateful as always to the people, that they come to see us, that they encourage young players and enjoy watching their experienced players. The connection with the people is always the most important thing.”

  1. As expected, there’s not much we can take away from these two friendlies. What a waste of an international window.

I may be wrong, but I think, more than Dybala, Paz, Buendía, Lo Celso, etc., Prestianni could have had a good impact on our World Cup campaign. He would have given us a much better option on the left side, making runs for Messi to tee him up—something like Jordi Alba.

Prestianni is a tricky, short customer who keeps the opposition on their toes. A real live wire. His defensive contribution may have to be tested, though.

  2. Had it with AFA.

Their constant favoritism in team selection, destroying the team’s competitive quality by constantly picking the worst possible friendly opponents, fostering a toxic culture (too many Argentine players get accused of racism and unsportsmanlike behavior), and filling their own pockets. They are creating a rot within the team that will be difficult to cure in the long run.

No more Messi and Di Maria to bail you out by doing impossible things on the field. They should keep that in mind.

Every AFA member needs to be replaced.

    • I agree with you. Its funny some people here claiming bad quality matches doesn’t affect our team performance against stronger teams. Its absolutely does. If we played more competitive team before the wc. The washed players who performed terrible in the wc would’ve exposed long time ago and this would probably let newcomers to breakthrough. Just like enzo, alvarez did before 22 world cup. We play against rubbish teams = even bad players performs cause of bad opponents= scaloni thinks team is fine and ready

Idk how people dont see this obvious issue here?

  3. Rubbish friendlies. You can win 10-0 but you will be registering 0 shot against team like spain again. These type of useless friendlies tells nothing about the quality of our player. You can play Scaloni, Aimar and Ayala and they probably still win the game…
