Lucas Martínez Quarta scored for Fiorentina in their 4-2 away win over St. Gallen on matchday 2 of the Europa Conference League.

With St. Gallen leading 1-0 in the 50th minute, the Argentine center-back received a cross from a corner kick, anticipated it at the near post, and headed the ball into the net to tie the game at 1-1.

Fiorentina fielded an all-Argentine center-back pairing, with 21-year-old Matías Moreno also starting for the Italian club. Lucas Beltrán came off the bench in the 62nd minute.

The national team previously held the No. 1 ranking for 11 months between April 2016 and March 2017, during the cycles of Gerardo Martino and Edgardo Bauza. To catch up with Brazil’s record, which held the top position between 1994 and 2001, Argentina will need to maintain its lead.
