Argentina is expected to play a friendly match later this month.

One of Jorge SAMPAOLI’s demands when he first took over as the Argentina National Team coach was to be able to play some matches involving domestic based players. Just over a month into his reign as coach and it looks like SAMPAOLI is about to get his wish.

Jorge SAMPAOLI today met with AFA president Claudio TAPIA regarding the situation and per reports, it appears as though a preliminary list of players will be announced in the next few hours. The list is expected to contain domestic based players with the team playing on July 20 against either Paraguay or Ecuador.

This match would be before Argentina’s upcoming World Cup Qualifier against Uruguay on August 30 in Montevideo.

Barca Signs Argentine Youth From Valencia

Barcelona has signed 19 years old Mariano KOYNK from Valencia (the transfer apparently took place in back in May). The youth team captain will be part of Gerrard LOPEZ’s set up at Barca and is hoping to be part of the senior squad in the future.

KOYNK who plays at as a center-back, has as Ukrainian ethnicity background via his parent who emigrated to Argentina when he was a young kid but has been living in Spain since he was at the age of five.

When asked during an interview with Sport whether he considers himself as Spanish, Ukrainian or Argentine; the kid who confess to idolize both Nicolas OTAMENDI and Roberto AYALA, said “Argentine, no doubt!”.

Diego MARADONA congratulated Lionel MESSI on his marriage to Antonela ROCUZZO, despite not being invited for the occasion.

“My congratulations, I hope that he has many healthy children, he knows that I love him very much.”

MARADONA said the invitation to the wedding probably got lost somewhere, but that does not change his opinion about MESSI.

He described MESSI as “a good athlete and an excellent person”.

Leandro PAREDES officially joins Zenit St Petersburg

Leandro PAREDES has officially joined Russian club Zenit St Petersburg.

As we reported earlier this week, PAREDES was being strongly linked to a move away from AS Roma to the Russian club. On Saturday, Zenit made the move official confirming the transfer on their website and social media channels. According to the club, PAREDES has joined on a 4 year contract, which would keep him in Russia until July 2021.

Willy CABALLERO joins Chelsea

Willy CABALLERO has left Manchester City and joined Chelsea.

The goalkeeper has signed a one year contract with the league champions. CABALLERO, who joined Manchester City back in the summer of 2014 following a transfer from Spanish club Malaga. CABALLERO who is now 35 years old will play back-up to starting goalkeeper Thibault COURTOIS after the club allowed Asmir BEGOVIC to join Bournemouth.
