Lionel MESSI: “Losing with National Team hurts”

0

Speaking to El Grafico, Lionel MESSI spoke about a number of topics.

On the subjects of Argentina and his playing career, MESSI spoke about retirement, Gabriel BATISTUTA’s goalscoring record for the National Team and not winning the World Cup and Copa America.

On finishing his career in Argentina:
“I’ve always said: It’s something I think about and I’d like to do it. I don’t know when but it’s a possibility.”

Until when he would keep playing:
“I don’t set any goals, be it for the near future or distant future but I’d like to go for as long as my body allows me to. When I know it’s the end, I’ll make the decision.”

About getting closer to BATISTUTA’s Argentina goal record:
“I’d prefer to win something with the National Team even if it’s off an own goal. Records are there but they don’t interest me because those don’t win you titles.”

If losing the Copa America hurt more than the World Cup:
“Everything that was lost with the National Team hurts me because I know we should have won. At the World Cup and the Copa America, we deserved to win.”

Willy CABALLERO heroics wins City cup title

0

Willy CABALLERO proved to be the hero for Manchester City as they defeated Liverpool in the final of the Capital One Cup.

With the match tied at 1-1 and extra time not changing anything, the match went to penalty kicks. CABALLERO saved three consecutive Liverpool spot kicks to give his team the win and their first title of the season. Sergio AGUERO took Manchester City’s third penalty kick and converted.

POLL: Return of Goal of the Week?

0

In previous years on Mundo, we used to do the Goal of the Week poll where everyone would get the chance to vote for what they think is the Goal of the Week. Would that be a feature you would like to see return on Mundo?

Let us know by voting in the poll!

The return of the Quick News feature!

0

As stated several days ago, we are working on getting some things up and running on Mundo.

A returning feature is that of the Quick News section. What you would find in Quick News is just that, fast news. We have a widget on the right side of the page above the “Kudos” section which will display the latest news published in that section. But we also have the “Quick News” page which you can visit by clicking here.

This is a section which we are restarting to use, so do keep an eye out on it!

Another section which I am actually working on as we speak is that of the “Players” section. For those unfamiliar with the “Players” page, you will be able to find information regarding past and present National Team players. Information regarding their U17, U20, Olympics and Senior careers, be it number of matches played or goals scored.

That is also another section which I have been working on the past few days to revamp as there have been many new players which have bursted onto the scene recently.
As stated in the past, we’re working hard on continuing to improve Mundo and we hope you make this your only go-to place regarding the National Team!

Juan ITURBE decides to play for Paraguay

0

Juan Manuel ITURBE will represent the Paraguayan National Team.

Former player for the U20 Argentina team, Juan Manuel ITURBE will play for Paraguay and not Argentina. ITURBE represented Argentina at the U20 level and played a friendly match with Paraguay in 2009 (then coach Tata MARTINO called him up and ITURBE played a few minutes). However, since it was a friendly match and not an official match, ITURBE was still eligible to play for Argentina and had since stated that he wants to play for Argentina and not Paraguay.

However, news is now breaking that ITURBE will represent Paraguay next month in the World Cup Qualifiers when they play Ecuador and Brazil, making him an official player for the Paraguayan National Team.
