Lionel Messi is just two goals away from becoming Inter Miami’s all time leading goal scorer.
Messi scored twice for Inter Miami in their 3-1 win vs. Philadelphia Union and is on 27 goals, two shy of Gonzalo Higuaín’s all time goal scoring record of 29 goals for the club. The 37 year old is the second all time leading goal scorer, joining the team last year.
Messi has two goals in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, 10 goals in the Leagues Cup and 15 in Major League Soccer.

It was not the best of starts for Inter Miami, allowing a goal after only 59 seconds. An effort on goal and the goalkeeper got a hand to it but was unable to keep the ball out.
It was a connection made in South America. Luis Suárez would play a pass to his good friend Messi who would dribble around the defender and score to draw Inter Miami level.

At 2-1, Messi would play a pass to Suárez who would score but the referee would go to VAR and Messi was offside.
The second half would bring a goal for Luis Suarez and an assist from Lionel Messi and Inter Miami continue to lead the league.

He isn’t the only Argentine in the starting eleven. Tomás Avilés, Federico Redondo and Marcelo Weigandt also start for Inter Miami.

Di María started the match for Benfica and scored the goal of the match. With Benfica leading 3-1, it was a ball from deep for the Argentine and with his first touch, he would lob the goalkeeper and score.
