Ángel Di María scored for Benfica and received a standing ovation when he was substituted out in their 5-0 win vs. Arouca.

Di María started the match for Benfica and when they were awarded a penalty kick, he tried to convince Rafa to take the penalty but Rafa refused. Rafa is leaving Benfica at the end of the season and Di María tried to get him a goal but it was Di María who took the penalty and scored.

Casper Tengstedt was substituted in for Di María in the second half and Di María received a standing ovation as he was leaving the pitch. There have been reports that the Argentine could be leaving Benfica at the end of the season and join Inter Miami.

Rodrigo De Paul scored for Atlético Madrid in their 1-0 home win vs. Celta de Vigo on matchday 35 of La Liga.

Diego Simeone’s team dominated the whole game, but they were not able to take the lead until the 84th minute. In a corner kick for Atleti, De Paul received the ball after a clearance from Celta’s defense. The Argentine controlled it with his chest just outside the box and volleyed it with precision to the back of the net. A stunning goal by the 29-year-old midfielder to make it 1-0 for his team.

While Ángel Correa started for Atlético Madrid and was substituted in the 61st minute, Rodrigo De Paul entered from the bench in the 55th minute.

With this win, Simeone’s team gets closer to securing a spot in the 2024/2025 Champions League, as they are now eight points ahead of Athletic Club with three matchdays left.

Thiago Almada scored for Atlanta United in their 3-2 loss vs. D.C. United.

Almada reached three goals and one assist for the season in 10 matches for Atlanta United. With the score at 0-0, Atlanta were awarded a penalty kick and it was the 23 year old who stepped up.

The Argentine took the penalty and scored, shooting to the goalkeeper’s left and the goalkeeper going to his right. The reigning MLS Young Player of the Year finished with a high 13 goals last season.
