Eduardo SALVIO: “I was not expecting the call-up”

Eduardo SALVIO has commented on his call-up to the Argentina National Team.

The Benfica player spoke about how happy he is to being called-up to the Argentina National Team and that he was surprised to be included in the team. Playing at a very high level for Benfica, SALVIO, now 27 years old, has not played for Argentina since their 0-0 match in 2013 against Saudi Arabia.

But with Jorge SAMPAOLI taking over the team and changes being made, SALVIO was one of many fresh faces to be included in the squad. Speaking with Radio La Red, here’s what he had to say:

Eduardo SALVIO:

“I was not expecting this call-up to the Argentina National Team. Now that I’m with the National Team, I don’t want to leave it. The position I like to play in most is the right wing.”

  1. Roberto Pereyara’s goal against Leicester has been voted as the best of Watford goals this season. Wish him a speedy recovery. I don’t know his present status. But now the doors of the NT are open to players like him. Could be a competitor for Salvio and Joaquin Corea.

That is why he has been selected. We dont have too many right wingers even though we have plenty of left wingers. Sampaoli likes to play with wide players. Gomez/ Acuna and Jocquin Corea/ Salvio will play on the wings thus providing Messi with more space in the centre.
