Gio LO CELSO dinks goalkeeper in PSG victory

11

Gio LO CELSO produced a moment of brilliance in PSG’s victory.

It took until the 87th minute for the Argentinian midfielder to find the back of the net in PSG’s 3-0 victory away to Lille. A 20th successive Ligue 1 win for the league leaders saw the former Rosario Central man score his first league goal of the season.

LO CELSO, who finished the match with 118 touches, score the goal on his 100th touch when he chipped the goalkeeper from the edge of the area. Coach Unai EMERY has been using LO CELSO much more frequently this season which will no doubt help his chances of being included in the Argentina squad not only for next month’s friendly matches but also for the World Cup.

All three of PSG’s Argentinians started the match with Angel DI MARIA and Javier PASTORE also in the starting eleven.

  1. Lo celso is not and will never be a defensive midfielder. His true potential lies going forward. Unai Emery is playing him in a defensive role to improve his discipline & defensive side of his game. I am sure if Emery stays as PSG coach next season, he will drop Rabiot and promote Lo Celso to LM.

  2. Hella talented but still raw. Yes it’s quite telling that he’s quickly becoming a starter is a team full of talent but it should be also noted that he’s playing with europe’s most expensive team against mostly average teams in a lowly league. The one good team PSG played against(Lyon)and Gio was played out of the field. For me Paredes, Enzo and Lanzini are well ahead of him but lets not forget that the season still has a while to go and hopefully Celso will continue to grow until the WC rears it’s head.

    • I would like to see one of Paredes/Lo Celso in starting eleven but not both. I doubt central midfield like Banega, Paredes, Lo Celso will defenisvely be able to stop some strong teams. There must be one real No.5. I believe we need classic destroyer there (Battaglia best) unlike WC will prove my hypothesis is wrong and we don’t need.

      Paredes/Nacho, Battaglia, Lanzini/Lo Celso

If Sampaoli will back to midfield with both Biglia and Banega the WC is going to be disaster for us.

      • Agreed Gonzalo, if Sampa is going to insist on a 3-4-3 formation (dear god I hope not), a Celso-Paredes pair would become a liability, however this pairing would work in a 4-3-3 with an Enzo-Celso-Paredes midfield with Enzo and Paredes playing holding positions, which allows Celso to bomb forward. Still I maintain my position regarding Celso though, which is that it’s still too early for him to be even considered as a starting option in the midfield.

Right now if I were to pick Sampa’s starting 3-4-3 (I hate that formation) it would be as follows:

        ———-Mercado———–Otamendi————-Tagliafico———

        –A.Correa———-Paredes————Enzo————A–Acuna—–

        ———–Lio—————Icardi————-Perotti————-

Fazio, Mammana, Rojo, Celso, Mascherano, Lanzini, Maria, Pavon, Dybala are backups.
Pity, Bustos and Nacho (even though his form has been way down) should be considered from the local league.

    • He was found out only because he played as the deepest of the midfielders and we al know that aint his position even though Emery has played him there mostly this season. He will never be played there for Argentina but is perfect for the aecind midfield role for us

  3. What a goal! Even the Football God Messi would be proud of seeing a young fellow Argentinian scoring such an artistic goal.

Lo Celso has been a revelation this season. He was a much needed player for us coz while we had abundance of talent in the final third we were lacking talented players in the middle who can control the midfield and start the creative play. Welcome onboard LoCelso!

Hope he continues to improve himself and peak by the time the world cup starts.

    My Preferred 11:
    Romero
    Garay (DF-L) | Bigilia (DF-M) | Otamendi (DF-R)
Salvio (LM) | Mascherano (DM) | Lo Celso (CM) | DiMaria (AM) | Acuna (RM)
    Messi | Aguero (FW)

I think Sampaoli has never tried this 11 before. He has never played Bigilia in DF I believe. I think Mascherano would be a better DM than Bigilia as the former is a bit more creative.

IMO, only Messi has earned the place in the first 11 so far. May be Otamendi too to a lesser extent. Although Romero is not at the level as want, Sampaoli wouldn’t want to get a new GK so late. Rest all positions are open for grab for anyone.

  4. Just like the two previous gentlemen have stated, this kid has been making a lot of noise as of late and hopefully that translates into good things for the NT and the future.

GOD, we have been spoiled rotten by the plethora of talent ARGENTINA possesses and I hope it never runs out.

  5. I think he has a very high probability of starting for us this world cup, mostly because he is a controlling midfielder who is better than banega and as sampolli have already tried him ahead of lanzini and parades in the last two friendlies. He looks a gem and hope he is there for us in the world cup
