Happy birthday to Gabriel BATISTUTA who turns 50 years old.

It’s not often that a striker comes along and dominates for years and years at a club. And it’s not often that the striker becomes an absolute legend and one of the best to ever play the game. But in this case, that happened with Gabriel BATISTUTA.

A bonified legend with Argentina, Fiorentina and Newell’s Old Boys, Batigol would go on to score over 50 goals for his country and held the record Argentina goal scoring record for over a decade before Lionel MESSI came and shattered that.

The winner of two Copa’s America and a FIFA Confederations Cup, BATISTUTA was a world force for his teams. Good in the air and with both feet, BATISTUTA was a predator inside and outside of the penalty area.

In the final of the 1993 Copa America, he scored both goals in a 2-1 win to help Argentina lift their last trophy to date. Over 250 matches with Fiorentina and over 300 matches in Italy, there truly is no one like him from an Argentine perspective.

    The greatest Argentine striker ever! As long as he was on the pitch you always felt there was a chance.
    Those thunderous volleys, leaping headers and flying hair like a warrior. 20-30 years later your recall fades but the memory of the power of Batigol pouring out of a old TV set always stays with you.

  14. Right now, Japan and Qatar are playing in the final of AFC Asian cup.. Qatar leads 3-1..
    Both of them will be playing Copa America this year and we can’t underestimate Qatar. They are very physical and fast.
