Lionel Messi won the Best FIFA Player award and he was thankful for his team mates and his family.
Messi continues to win individual awards and on Monday, he once more won the Best FIFA Player award. With his wife Antonela in attendance and his kids watching at home, Messi lifted the Best FIFA award and as soon as he began to talk, there was a loud cheer from those in attendance. Here is what Messi had to say:
“They make me more nervous than I am. It’s a pleasure to be back here, among the top three. Mbappé and Benzema had a great year. I want to thank my teammates. Today, we are here with Scaloni and Dibu Martínez, on their behalf.
“This is a recognition to the group for everything we did, without it we wouldn’t be here. This year was crazy for me, I was able to achieve my dream after fighting so hard, searching for it and insisting.
“In the end it came (winning the World Cup) and it is the most beautiful thing that happened to me in my career. It is a dream for any player and very few can achieve it. Thanks to God, I was able to get it.
“Finally, I want to thank my family and the people of Argentina for having lived such a beautiful moment that will remain in my memory for the rest of my life. A big kiss to my sons, Thiago, Mateo and Ciro, who are watching and I love them. Go to sleep now.”
