Argentina starting XI vs. Curaçao, Lionel Messi starts

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has named his starting eleven against Curaçao and Lionel Messi starts.

Lionel Scaloni has made a few changes to the team which won 2-0 vs. Panama on Thursday. Gonzalo Montiel starts in place of Nahuel Molina while Germán Pezzella replaces Cristian Romero. Marcos Acuña will start for Nicolás Tagliafico. Gio Lo Celso replaces Rodrigo De Paul while Lautaro Martínez and Nicolás González start in place of Julián Álvarez and Ángel Di María. Here is the starting eleven:

Dibu Martínez; Montiel, Pezzella, Otamendi, Acuña; Mac Allister, Enzo Fernández, Lo Celso; Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martínez, Nicolás González

  1. When did constructive criticism amount to trolling. Fans have right to raise genuine concern. Maybe Retegui is not tested but his position needs tough competition, once these friendlies are over in June.

  2. I hope Scaloni is aware in 2026 likes of Otamedi, Papu Gomez, Dimaria, Armani will be past 38/39 years of age and has a backup plan. Secondly Pezzella, Acuna, Tagliafico will be past 35/34 years. That’s why he should start look for quality replacement.

    As for Lautaro I agree with the rest, the joke has gone too far. He should start getting serious.

  4. Retugi proper #9 yes. But isn’t icardi one as well? People said football is changing so we don’t need a proper #9 that’s why they didn’t care about icardi.. so y d fuss about retugi? If he chooses Italy so be it.. people just love to find fault. Give it a fucking break now.. we are fucking world champions for now and we have a whole lot of players still young on this squad plus a couple youngsters coming through

    • I didn’t like when Scaloni said regarding Retegui that he doesn’t like to convince a player to play for NT…”
      As per my understanding, I thought Retegui is a good finisher, hard worker and can be an option for NT. But our coaching staff trusted the players we already have. Yes, our forward depth is unlimited..but Retegui is a real CF but are behind Lautaro, Alvarez and Simeone.

      The reality is that Lautaro lost the spark and finishing he once had. May be he will come back to his best. We need options in CF. Alvarez and Simeone are there. Dybala can also play there but he’s not a real CF.

  21. As per google the young players are not even in there in the substitution bench. this will influence the young players to join Italy such a disgrace..
