Diego Maradona and the 1986 Argentina national team became legends. On June 29, 1986, Argentina defeated West Germany 3-2 to win their second FIFA World Cup.

Goals by José Luis Brown, Jorge Valdano and Jorge Burruchaga with Maradona himself providing the assist on the last goal. While national teams did not wear stars on their shirts at the time, this would prove to be the second star for the Argentina national team.
