Julián Álvarez had a goal and assisted for Manchester City in their 3-1 win vs. RB Leipzig.

Álvarez continues to score, be it as a starter or as a substitute for Manchester City. Starting City’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig on the bench, the 23 year old was brought on as a substitute and changed the outcome of the game.

The Argentine received the ball on the edge of the penalty area and curled ont into the top corner to give Manchester City the 2-1 lead. But the World Cup winner was not done just yet.

At 2-1, he played a pass to Jeremy Doku as he was one on one with the goalkeeper and he would score. Manchester City lead their group with six points.

Álvarez has three goals and one assist in two matches in the Champions League while scoring three goals and having four assists in seven league matches.

  1. Lautaro and Alvarez would be nice.
Over 20 years ago Bielsa once played Crespo and Batistuta together for a few minutes against the Netherlands in a friendly. It resulted in a goal shortly after.

  2. If Messi is injured, has Argentina ever tried Alvarez and Lautaro on the field at the same time? They seem to similar but with Alvarez playing a more withdrawn and creative role, it could be interesting.
