The Argentina U23 national team has been named for training with the Olympic qualifiers beginning this month.
Argentina U23 national team coach Javier Mascherano has named 23 players to train at the Lionel Andrés Messi complex. Two of the 23 players play outside of the country.
Thiago Almada of Atlanta United in the United States makes the list as does Lucas Esquivel who plays in Brazil with Paranaense. The qualifying tournament for the Olympics will run from January 20 until February 11 in Venezuela. Here are the 23 players named by Javier Mascherano:
Marco Di Cesare (Argentinos Juniors)
Luciano Gondou (Argentinos Juniors)
Federico Redondo (Argentinos Juniors)
Juan Sforza (Newell’s Old Boys)
Francisco Gonzalez (Newell’s Oly Boys)
Joaquin Garcia (Velez)
Santiago Castro (Velez)
Leandro Brey (Boca)
Nicolas Valentin (Boca)
Valentin Barca (Boca)
Ezequiel Fernandez (Boca)
Cristian Medina (Boca)

I want ARG to be in the Olympics but I know some players will miss out because their clubs will refuse to let them.
