Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni talks about team, young players

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke about the team, the young players and Lionel Messi.

Lionel Scaloni held a press conference on Thursday where he commented on the team with the young players and Lionel Messi not playing. Here is what he had to say:

“We are all strong and eager to continue. The most important thing was to reinforce and for the team to know what we want from them.

“We have to keep working the same way. This job and this place does not allow you to be even 90 percent, I talked to everyone I had to talk to.

“We are clear about the path to take. It’s not even to compete again after winning everything.

“We came to compete, with our guard up, always when playing with this shirt, the games are important.

“We continue to evolve and try that the best play. There are many players and the final choice is never easy. All the boys who are here have a chance to play at the Copa.”

Scaloni also spoke about Lionel Messi:

“During this trip, I spoke to Leo (Messi), I went to his house and he received me very well. I spoke to a lot of players who have been with us for a long time and with whom I thought I had to talk to. I trust them a lot and I love them a lot.

“Now that Leo (Messi) is not here with us, we have to be a team more than ever because there is no player to replace him, it’s the truth.”

About Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Buonanotte:

“They are here because they have a chance to be at the Copa America, that is obvious. They are playing at a good level in an important competition like the Premier League.”
