  1. Still in europe our players not getting the recognition they deserve. I think for that, a ballondor winner should emerge from argentina other than Messi. The talk is like in world cup and copa and qualifiers the whole team and system was dependent on Messi. The hardcore Messi fans are the first one to rumour it like this. Then the higness fans and neutrals also. Also we must continue the winning streak inorder to get the real stature in europe and make way to other generations. We have to prove that this is a combined effort with many brilliant individuals of great levels. Continue improving. The time wil come soon to maintain this glory.

  2. Without a doubt, he is one of the best midfielders in the world right now. And a humble, down to earth guy too. Our chance of retaining the crown depend in many ways on how Mac Allister arrives to Copa America. Let’s hope that he stays healthy and in top shape.

Even though we are the main favourites to win the tournament, I feel like in some ways we are a bit more vulnerable coming into Copa. Bielsa showed the world how to beat us: press and counter press relentlessly, overload the midfield, give us no space and then try to expose Otamendi on pace. Plus, we have have a target on our back, everyone would want to beat a World and Copa champion. Also, it’s hard to stay as motivated for our players, after winning so much in the last few years. That’s one of main reasons it is not easy to retain a trophy.

I am not pessimistic, I’m sure Scaloni and co understand that too. The presence of a couple of players that could not make it to the World Cup, e.g. Lo Celso and Nico Gonzalez or Garnacho if he somehow makes it, could give us a slight motivational boost, because those players would need to show their desire to contribute. I am worried about left CB position though, we need to think hard about Licha’s potential new injury prone body and perhaps consider Perez and Senesi as alternatives instead.

    • Don’t forget that Biesla’s men were fouling us nonstop in that match as did Brazil. I doubt the refs at the Copa America will allow the best midfield to be neutralized with cynical fouls.
