Emiliano Martínez does not have a muscle tear and could play next Premier League game

Emiliano Martínez underwent medical tests, and the results stated that he does not have a muscle tear on his right leg. He got injured during last Saturday’s match vs. Chelsea and had to be substituted at halftime, with Aston Villa winning by two. The Blues ended up tying the game 2-2.

Dibu will not play Thursday’s Conference League first-leg semifinals vs. Olympiacos because he is suspended due to the number of yellow cards he received in the competition. Nonetheless, per reports, he is in optimal condition to start vs. Brighton next Sunday. Coach Unai Emery will decide whether he risks Martínez or not four days before the second leg of the Conference League semifinals.

The Argentine goalkeeper was cautious enough in leaving the pitch at halftime vs. Chelsea. Otherwise, the muscle injury could have been more severe.

  1. Great news for Villa! Their gap between tjeir backup goalkeeper and Emi is so huge that Villa might end up like Barcelona when Pinto took over from injured V.Valdez. Barca crashed out from all three competitions!
